Lorenzo Romano

The cars were parked deep in the middle of this deserted forest, no one could easily notice us. We had been here for some where waiting for sunset to reach before we attack them unexpectedly, I only prayed that they were both alive and fine.

I was never the type that was religious or believed in God but I made a promise that if Ava was to come out with me safe, I would accept that there is truly a God. I would even go as far as letting go of the mafia and other businesses I was involved in.

Thanks to the tracking device, we got the location of Zoe. When Dante had suggested we track her, I shrugged it off with the thought of her being in a completely different country with her family which included her father, the main and newest suspect on our list.

Her location had brought us to a partially completely warehouse faraway from the city, in the middle of nowhere. There were many thoughts running through my head, one of them being that, if i were to get my hand on Zoe, she might likely not survive. She had been right under our nose the whole time, most likely giving out information to her father. Ava must have innocently told her everything so we weren't able to catch the culprit since they knew our plan.

I checked my gun again to make sure it was fully loaded, my hands were itching to punch something, anything which made my men keep their durance of they don't want to be the punchbag.

"Guy, calm down we'll get them back" Marco said, patting my shoulder. I leaned against the car while taking a deep breath in to calm my nerves.

"I'm trying" I muttered staring at him, the bandage or whatever that was wrapped around his head fitted him perfectly. Unfortunately for him, he was a bit tipsy when the attack was made on him back at the hotel. We all knew the key code so there wasn't any need to knock and I always call whenever I needed room service.

His drunkenness had gotten into his head that he could not reason why someone had knocked on the door, he opened and the rest is a story for another day.

"If you ever think of drinking alcohol or wine again, you'll be wishing for death" I said trying to keep the threat out of my tone, it was quite funny seeing him in that guilty state. He was not yet discharged from the hospital but had insisted he wanted to be part of the rescue mission, the guilt won't eat him out that way.

"I know, I might not even sip water for ever" He replied sarcastically before getting into the car, Dante came out from the other side banging the door, he was speaking into one of the walkie talkies.

"Thanks, I'll inform him" He said before cutting the walkie talkie.

"Spill" I demanded crossing my arms across my chest.

"Seems like not only one person betrayed us, that Angelo guy whom you helped is also involved under this. He was captured by our men who are around the building and is being brought here" He huffed kicking a stone off the floor.

"I thought he was away with his family. You should be keeping track of him" I gritted out trying to keep the accusation off my tone, I wondered who else was going to betray us.

"I was keeping track, his mother said he had gone to college through a football scholarship so I never suspected anything, stop looking for who to blame all the time" He replied with the same tone. I scoffed in response, if only he knew how much I had blamed myself he wouldn't have said that.

The past two nights, I had gone to bed staring at the ceiling without falling asleep throughout the night. There was no way I coukd sleep knowing she wasn't there to hold, knowing she might also not be asleep.

I had manged to get few minutes of sleep last night so not to break down today.

"I'm sorry" I apologized. He stared wide eyed at me, it was not often you saw me apologizing for my mistake. My father had beaten unto me that being sorry was a sign of weakness. Going by the broad some on Dante's face, I was going to let go of all of my father's teaching and keep apologizing even when not at fault.
