FLASHBACK ( 3 months before being an Assassin)
The Office is closed, and everyone has already left. Jean was on his way to the nearest ATM to withdraw money for his bills and other stuff. He slide the card inside and entered his PIN. He first entered €200. But it didn't dispense anything. He tried another amount, €25 as he thought that was the last amount he left in his bank account. Suddenly, he recalled paying his balance to his workmate. With a sad face, he left the ATM without anything on him. "Hmm, I'll just call Marcel, he is fucking my girlfriend anyway!" Jean said in his head.
He walked towards his Apartment, and he was right. He could hear his and his girlfriends' moans through the door. Jean didn't react to it, it was like a regular scene to him anyway. "Ah-I'm sorry!" Marcel said as he pulled his thing out of Jean's then-girlfriend Brigitte. Not only Marcel screws him over with his girlfriend but he also bullies him at work. Still, Jean, being the proper person that he is, didn't let those things cloud his mind, he still made best friends with Marcel.
Jean just got to bed and sleeps it off. Marcel and Brigitte have left. He was alone until he heard something ringing in his ears. "Of course, it's the train!" He yelled in frustration. The Apartment where he is living is just beside a train station, and every time a train passes by, he would hear the sounds as if there is an earthquake on his floor. He covered himself with pillows and continued to sleep. His life was nothing but boring and he acts as if he is on autopilot.
Until.
THREE MONTHS AFTER
It was around midnight when he heard his stomach grumble. He stood up and tried to check the food from his fridge, there were just bottles of water. He decided to go to the nearest convenience store.
He had a huge bowl of noodles and a bar of chocolate in his hand. His BFF/ Traitor Workmate Marcel left him a few Euros on his desk. He was about to head to the Cashier when a lady about his age approach him. "I knew your father!" She said as she looked Jean in the eye. "Wha-what do you mean you knew my father?" Jean asked the very attractive girl. They were starting to have a conversation when a bullet was shot in one of the aisles of the convenience store. Jean was surprised that the girl he is talking to, have a rifle on her hand.
Hélène could see from her sniper rifle that Jean was being followed.
The attractive girl didn't get to introduce her name. She instructed Jean to stay behind her. A man with a revolver started shooting at them. "What's happening?" Jean yelled in panic. " Just stay close to me so you won't get hurt!" Hélène replied as she tries to shoot the little older man.
Jean was rattled by his situation and just followed Hélène's command. The older man keeps on shooting at them until the man disappeared. "Who's that? Why is he shooting at us?" Jean asked but Hélène refused to answer.
On the other hand.
Louis was shooting at Jean and Hélène aimlessly. He intended to give Jean a warning. "Do not go with her son!" Louis said in his head as he indirectly fires at them.
Louis tried to follow them around but his eyes lost contact when Hélène dragged Jean to the darker alley. "I'll come back for you!" Louis said as he head back to his base.
Hélène and Jean separated when they reached the street that lead to Jean's apartment. "What's your name?" Jean asked as he head near his door. " Hélène" she replied without showing any emotion. "Thank you for saving me!" Jean said and he went inside his house. Hélène walked to where she parked her car.
She reached her parking and glanced at the rearview mirror to see if there were signs of Louis. "Why does he have to intervene?" She asked herself as she listen to a song that played in her car.
PINA COLADA song by Rupert Holmes. Hélène playfully bangs her head to the cool music. She droves as she heads back to Chateaux Marseille. It was hours of driving from Angers. A lot of thoughts came to her mind as she drives the freeway. Her mind took her to the scene where she found her father, Francois lying in front of their doorstep. She recalled as he have one gunshot wound on his head. "Papa!" She whispers.
"Did you find him?" Étienne asked as soon as he saw Hélène get down from her car.
"Yes! I think I met him!" Hélène coldly replied as she walk past Étienne. "Good!" Étienne said to himself with a smirk on his face.Back at Angers
Jean cannot get over just what happened to him. "She said she knew my father, " Jean asked himself as he lay down on his bed. After months, he finally broke off with Brigitte and also made a comeback at Marcel for bullying him and screwing him over his ex-girlfriend. Now, he is finally free.
'tu me manques Maman!' Jean sent a text to Sophie. He closed his eyes and he has fallen quickly to sleep. It was 6 AM when he slowly woke from his sleep, he checked on his phone and there were several missed calls from an unknown number. "Who could it be?" He asked himself while lightly scratching his eye.
He prepared himself for work and grabbed a piece of Donut from a Vendor nearby. He was walking to his building when he noticed that someone was following him. "Hi!" Hélène greeted. "Wow! you're so early" Jean smiled seeing Hélène again. "You were saying something to me last night?" Jean continued their walking as he chew on the last few bites of the Donut. "Yes! Are you ready to know your father?" Hélène said and they continued walking. They passed by his work building.
