You walked to Windrise and sat down on the small cliff in front of the big grand tree. You loved sitting here. The soft wind blowing in your hair always calmed you down after a long day of commissions.
You look up at the sky and almost had a heart attack.
"Venti, what are you doing here?"
"Ehe~, I saw you sitting here alone looking all lonely, so I decided to walk up to you. Don't you have commissions to do all mighty Traveller?"
"No, actually I am done for the day." You smile sarcastically.
"Oh, might as well join you then." He sat down beside you.
You let out an exhausted sigh.
"Windrise is beautiful at this hour, wouldn't you agree, Traveller?" Venti's braids move in the wind. He sits on the edge of the small cliff viewing the Windrise tree.
Venti smiles as the wind slowly blows.. "How about I play you a tune..?" He has a playful grin on his face as he looks at you.. His brown lyre appears in his hands. He cushions it.
You smile warmly and you nod. Hearing Venti play the lyre sounds so.. dear.. and just familiar.
Venti giggles, and he holds his hand out, as if he wants something from you.
"What do you want this time..?" You look at him expecting him to play the lyre not, demanding something..
"Traveller.. I'm not just going to give away the melodies of teyvat for free.." He smirks, knowing you would give in..
"As a bard, I need some kind of payment.."
"And that would be..?" You look up at venti as he stands up..
"An apple would be perfect.." He smiles.. closing his turquoise eyes.. you smile back at him..
'i should have an apple in here..’ you say to yourself as you dig through your brown backpack for an apple.. you take out a shiny red apple.. it looked so perfect almost as if it wasn't real..
"Here you go, Venti.." You hand the apple to venti and he takes it..
"You always know how to satisfy a bard, Traveller~" He puts the apple down on the green grass and runs his fingers through the turquoise strings of his lyre..
The moment his hand touched them, it filled your skin with goosebumps.. you never knew an instrument could sound this beautiful..
While he plays the lyre, he sits back down beside you.. he begins to sing.. your face lights up and you can't help but just smile.. You sway your head to the rhythm of the song..
"I see you really enjoy listening to me play the lyre, traveller~," Venti puts down his lyre, and he looks at you..
"How could I not.. the lyre and your voice combined sounds almost angelic?.."
Venti just smiles and continues to play the most gorgeous tune known to mankind. Suddenly, a stream of tears flows down your cheek. To your surprise, the tears are only coming out from your left eye.
"Traveller, you remembered, didn't you?" Venti looks at you with a look of no emotions. It's as if all the life from him got sucked out in a mere instance.
He takes his hand up towards your cheek and wipes the tears.. "Dear, don't cry.." He smiles differently in the way you always knew.. his turquoise eyes weren't glowing like usual, they were dark, not even a tiny hint of life in them.
"Just focus on the good parts." He lays your head back on the soft green grass and you close your eyes. "Just rest again, my dearest friend." He says in his sweet voice, that you miss for some reason, why though? He's right there talking to you right at that moment, but you still can't help but feel empty..
The moment your eyes shut, the scenery transforms from a serene to a battlefield.
The ground is hot, fire spreading rapidly in the background, then you see his shining white wings. It's venti. You quickly stand up and you run to him just to see it's only his wing hanging off a branch. Little droplets of blood dripping down the smooth feathers of his wings.
You can feel your breathing getting heavier and faster as you see his wing, 'where is he..' you think to yourself as a sense of panic starts invading your body.
You can see someone laying on the ground in the distance, with some fading turquoise glow. You run up towards it rapidly and you yell out his name "VENTI." you kneel down beside him to see his face completely demolished. Blood everywhere, scratches and maybe even little holes..
Despite half of his hand missing, he continues to hold his bow in his right hand. It's the golden bow he always treasured so much. The upper limb of the bow is snapped off.
"Venti, venti, please, can you hear me?" You let out a cry of desperation as you see him in this state. You may be one of the strongest warriors of teyvat, but you didn't know what to do.
His archon marks stop glowing, they slowly start to fade away off of his body, the one on his stomach is almost gone. "Venti, please, open your eyes.. let me see your gorgeous turquoise eyes." You cry out more as you shake his body to wake him up.
"You can't die, you can't you can't you can't." You're completely losing it.. as if all sense that you ever possessed is slowly escaping your body the more time you spend beside him.
"T-this is all my fault.. i-i." You completely breakdown and cry. "No, this isn't real. He's still alive, this all just a nightmare." You hold your head as you try to smile as tears flow down your cheeks rapidly.
"You killed him. It's all your fault." Voices echo through your head as you cry, more as it's the only thing you can get yourself to do. You're completely helpless.
Suddenly venti's hand rises up from his bow and places it right on your throat. "It's all your fault traveller, you caused all of this." His grip on your neck tightens.
"You failed to protect everyone, even me.. you're useless, traveller-" It's not venti talking, it can't be him, this isn't him. Suddenly, you feel a hand on your shoulder and it shakes you gently.
"Traveller, traveller, can you hear me?" You snap back and you see Venti with a slightly concerned look on his face. "There you are. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry." You look into his turquoise eyes that are glowing. It was just a nightmare. He's right here, you're just imagining things.. nothing ever happened.
"Are you sure? You look a bit.. hm how do I put this.. you look distraught." He looks at your face as if he was inspecting it.
"It's okay, venti. Seriously, nothing happened." You have a feeling as if you just witnessed something horrible, a thing you would never wish upon anyone to see, but you can't seem to remember what it was
