"Fuck!" I hear Hyun-suk yell from the front of the bus, jolting me awake. I quickly scramble out of my bunk and cautiously peek my head into the front lounge. Hyun-suk is pacing while viciously tugging at his light brown hair, and Lisa is seated at the small table, with her head in her hands.

"What's going on?" I dare to ask, slowly stepping out of the bunk area and into the front lounge.

Both of their eyes snap up to look at me, their gazes utterly different from each other. Hyun-suk's eyes are hard and threatening while Lisa's are glazed over and desperately trying to stay open. Lisa looks like complete hell, hair dishevelled, skin pale, and eyes full of misery.

"Her voice is shot!" Hyun-suk roars, slapping his hands down onto his thighs. "I don't know what we're going to do. It's a sold out show tonight and..." He's cut off by his phone ringing. "What!?" he barks, picking up the call and going off on someone, but I drown him out.

"Hey..." I say softly, taking a seat across from Lisa at the table and placing one of my hands on top of hers. I search her eyes only to come up short, with no emotion behind them whatsoever. "What's wrong?"

"I'm... tired." she says. Her voice is so strained and airy that I can hardly understand her. She tiredly closes her eyes and leans down to rest on top of the table, with her head on top of our hands. I let out a sigh, knowing that I shouldn't be shocked, but I am. As much as I want to scream at the both of them right now and say I told you so, I bite my tongue, knowing that it won't solve anything.

"I know, bud." I try to comfort her, soothingly running the fingers of my free hand through her unruly hair, feeling bad for her.

"Jennie." Hyun-suk says, hanging up his phone and angrily pinching the bridge of his nose. "I need you to get her in to see Doctor Lance now." he says, referring to Lisa's vocal doctor back in New York. "You're going to have to take her while I stay here and try to fix this mess." he growls, going to the back lounge to make more phone calls and arrangements.

"Lisa." I say, hooking my finger under her chin to make her look up at me, and eventually she opens her dull blue eyes. "We're going home. I still need to arrange flights and everything, but in the meantime, I need you to get some rest, ok?" She nods, lazily getting up and going to her bunk while I get to work making arrangements and packing.

Walking down the hall, I pull my keys out of my bag, finding the spare key to Lisa's apartment next to the license plate keychain that she got me for my birthday. Even though I insisted on giving her back her key after I decorated her apartment, she made me keep it in in case of an emergency.

Opening the front door, I carry our luggage in and set it off to the side as Lisa kicks off her shoes by the door and moseys to her room. I hear the mattress creak under her weight, and I sigh in relief that she's finally going to get some decent rest. She slept on the whole plane ride but was uncomfortably hunched over so she could rest her head in my lap.

Walking over to the kitchen, I open the fridge to get her a bottled water, but it's completely bare due to her being out on tour. Instead, I walk over to grab a glass out of the cabinet because I don't want her getting dehydrated.

"Jen." I can barely hear Lisa's broken voice down the hall and over the sound of the tap running. I mentally scold her for calling out.

"I'll be right there, baby." I say, with the pet name accidentally rolling off my tongue. After filling up her glass, I make sure to grab my phone and laptop because knowing Lisa, she'll want me to stay with her and play with her hair to help her sleep. When I walk into her bedroom, she's laying across her bed horizontally, with her feet dangling off the edge. As soon as she hears me walk in, she opens her tired eyes and pats the space near her head.
