I took one last deep breath before I knocked on the door at the end of the lit passage way.The door creaked open and a pair of cerulean blue eyes looked into mine and recognition flashed through them before the door opened fully and Sebastian let me inside.
I didn't say a word, I just walked into the familiar room and remembered how empty the place was. I decided to sit on the bed that had pillows and cushions and a throw blanket on top of it. I guess it could get pretty cold, living in a mountain.
Sebastian was the first to speak, with an awkward 'Hey,'
I turned to face him and spoke softly back. 'Hi,'
'You want anything?' He approached me and I stiffened a little, but not enough for him to notice.
'I'm good.' I replied with the best smile I could muster.
'So, um. What are you here for?'
I frowned a little as he got straight to the point. Like the first day we met, he'd picked me up to show off his strength and we'd ended up throwing chunks of mountain at each other. Good times...
'I'm here to ask you if you know anything about the stone of Gardaline.' I responded, playing with my hair for a distraction.
He frowned a little and stood, pacing in thought. I took the time to observe him. His dark golden hair, which was funny because his last name was Golde. His square jaw and perfect cheekbones. His blue eyes that captured me in certain light. And his muscular body that showed me I would be safe around him. Unless his anger was directed towards me.
'You say Gardaline?' He stopped his pacing to turn to me and I nodded meekly in response,
'Yeah.'
"It's familiar." He shook his head as if to try and get the memory to fall into sight. 'Why are you asking about it?'
He came and sat back down again but this time all of his attention was on me. I shuffled awkwardly before looking into his eyes again. 'My parents died, you know that.' He nodded for me to continue. 'I had this dream last night and me and Jordan were trying to figure out what it was.'
'What was your dream?' He asked softly, pulling his legs up underneath him. He was turned in my direction, so I pulled my legs up and did the same.
'My parents came to me and told me that this stone would help me with my shape shifting problem.'
He let out a low 'Oh' sound and leant back.
He was acting so casual around me and I was finding it difficult to do the same. He was the one who said it and yet I was struggling more. I didn't understand it at all. Maybe I should go home and watch Twilight...
'Yeah.' I said, stretching the word out in the hope that he would say something to end the silence.
'I'll get the books out and we'll sift through them, and then we'll go from there.' I felt the bed move as he got off, his weight no longer on the mattress.
I sighed as I watched him pick out books on the shelves and told myself that I had to confront him about it, but I just didn't know how.
Sebastian dropped some books down in front of me and I grabbed the first one I could, not making eye contact with Sebastian as he sat down again. I felt the bed dip in his weight and was aware of his presence but I just tried to ignore it.
He'd pulled out a lot of books to do with gems and stones and magical stuff and there were quite a few to get through.
'You found anything yet?' I tried to make conversation as I peeked quickly through my lashes at him. His head was down and he'd put glasses on, and to my surprise, I couldn't stop thinking about how good he looked in them.
