THE NEXT MORNING RHAENYRA HAD FOUND HERSELF in the kitchens grabbing all kinds of foods that she was craving, she ignored the stares of the cooks and servants while grabbing some lemon cakes and some toast, she'd ate it while staying seated across from the servant quarters, she watched how the cooks moved and smiled; they were so fascinating to look at. For a moment she thought it was weird to think that, but at this point she didn't care.
She soon found herself away from the kitchens and again exploring the castle halls, she walked up a set of stairs and headed for the old library she always found herself pondering her thoughts.
Once she reacted the old library she looked around and touched books to decide on which one she'd like to take with her. She takes the book she always used to read, the history of Valyrian origins. She smiles and hides behind a couple of book case and silently reads to herself.
Rhaenyra walks out of the library, book in her clutches as her other hand rubs her stomach softly. She hums and goes back downstairs passing a few guards that looked at her with looks before looking away, perhaps everyone already knows about the court that is in two days. She knew that Vaemond Velaryon would be here tomorrow, honestly she didn't need this.
All this overwhelming stress makes her feel sick, she was scared that all these emotions she was feeling will harm her baby. She wandered aimlessly down the stairs and through the castle once again, she felt the need to go outside and catch some fresh air.
Rhaenyra walked in the direction of the entrance before a voice called her back, she felt herself tense and sigh with defeat. She turned and was met with her other half-brother; Aegon. He was walking closer to her with what looked to be a too innocent of a smile, "Rhaenyra, my dear sister." He says causing her to look up in the corner of her eyes towards him. "Where are you headed?"
"Just going to the gardens for a bit of fresh air." She answers with a tight-lipped smile.
"Alone?" He questions, "without your guards or anyone around to protect you?
Rhaenyra couldn't help but roll her eyes; "I can assure you I am fine, besides, I have not got any guards that follow me around anyways. I usually walk around Dragonstone alone," she says watching Aegon's facial expressions, but she didn't seem to find any reaction but that smile that hid something dark.
"No guards?" He questions, "but Mother had asked for some guards to be around you, to protect you." He then looks downwards towards her stomach, "and you are pregnant. What if you get attacked and nobody knew about it and you ended up dead?" His voice had gotten deeper, he was practically towering over her causing her to shiver and want to tuck her head down to stare at the ground. She tilted her head up a little and saw the look Daemon explained to her, he was staring at her firmly.
She stayed silent for a moment, "I suppose the red keep is different that Dragonstone in so many ways." She shrugs avoiding his stare on her, "thank you, Aegon." She says trying to hurry away back the way she came from, though she didn't get very far as she could hear him behind her.
"Hey, why are you in a hurry to go away? Did you not want fresh air, I could have took you for a walk?" He sounded far away to her as she felt like she was trying to keep her head up from water, she felt like she was slightly drowning.
"I have changed my mind," she calls out to him as she began to wander through the long halls, failing at getting away when she could hear his feet hit the floors harder. He'd soon caught up to her and was practically dangling over her shoulder as he now walked next to her.
She bit her lip and kept her eyes straight forward, "you know, you are going to hurt yourself if you keep doing that to your lip, sister." He chuckles quietly, "there's no need to be nervous, I am just looking out for you."
"Hm," she hums and holds the book tighter to her chest. "Thank you for your concern, but I am fine." She says with a smile and nods curtly at him and began to walk faster, though the boy doesn't seem to take a hint.
Aegon took a look at the books and began to look intensely at Rhaenyra, "come." He said grabbing her hand that was rubbing her bump, "let's go to my chambers, I'll read the book to you."
Rhaenyra's protests were cut short when he looked at her with a sharp look and then dragged her down into his chambers, the woman was nervous in case anyone saw them and presumed that she was now sleeping with her brother. Everyone calls her a whore behind her back, though she already knew that, nobody seemed to like her anymore and it would make her feel worse if they all started accusing her having intimate intentions with Aegon.
They soon arrived to his chambers and she was led over to one of his chairs that was beside the fireplace, "perhaps I could brush your hair and read to you dear sister." Rhaenyra felt sick when he placed a pillow down in front of his chair, part of her didn't seem to mind as she could use some company and comfort, but another half of her just wanted to run, this was wrong and creepy on so many levels.
"Come get comfortable," he said watching her sit down in front of him. "Relax, I would never hurt you, little one." She once again shivered and stayed completely still letting him run the brush gently down her knots while he now held the book on his knee.
She could hear him turning a couple of pages before reading the first few pages to her, she began to relax but kept a clear head, why were they doing this now? They've all acted so weird since she came here. Last time she were here she had gotten a couple of odd looks from them, but that was when they were mere children, and she could remember Alicent's fear and regret when she cut her. Her hand traced the scar – she could hear Aegon's quiet yet soft voice read to her. Perhaps, part of them all regretted something from the past and are trying to make things right, but this was still all so confusing to her.
