A LITTLE WHILE LATER, ALICENT WENT TO Rhaenys who was standing next to her bed looking at her with disgust. "So, this is what you green's do, lure in a little girl to take her throne from her." She says as she glared at Alicent in front of her. "Your Father came in this morning and ambushed me, telling me to bend and betray Rhaenyra who now was the enemy to the throne, usurping the throne for your son."
"I didn't come here to argue, I came here for your support." Rhaenys glares at her, "my father is doing this on his own accord not me. The King's dying wish was for Rhaenyra to take the throne and to unite this family. I need you to get yourself out and to the Princess, she needs to come here quickly before my father takes away our bond and her throne."
The older woman looks appalled, she had seen what the green's were doing with Rhaenyra, and yet she didn't stop them because she herself knew deep down that Rhaenyra didn't kill her son. She didn't answer the young Queen, but she became less grounded towards her.
"My loyalty lay with my cousin," she began. "Now, it lies with Rhaenyra, I've already told your father this, y'know. But I'll do whatever I can," she says before walking back over to the window.
"I'll send Ser Erryk for you, just know I am on your side, I am with Rhaenyra." She vows before leaving through the door. Her head was a mess. But she heard one last thing.
"I hope you keep your word, Alicent Hightower, after all I know what you and your children have been doing to Rhaenyra." She walks away feeling relieved to know that Rhaenys has entrusted her to keep her vow, and to which she will.
She walked to her chambers to find her father there with guards, he turns to her, "I'm giving you a choice, Alicent, either you come to Aegon's coronation or you will be restrained in your chambers until it tis done."
It seems as though, they have caught Aegon. "Father," she was cut off again. "– Ser Arryk came back empty handed and said his brother had fled the scene and Aemond along with Ser Criston had taken Aegon away. I believe that was your doing, make your choice now, Alicent."
She had to be there for her son, she wasn't proud of this and she hated this. "Father, Rhaenyra has to be queen, that was the King's dying wish, and I shall not see it being tainted–" A slap rang through the air. Alicent grasped her cheek in shock, the stinging of her cheek snapped her out of her thoughts, she looked to her father with unshed tears.
"Tainted!" He roared. "Aegon is the true heir, he is a man! Woman can't inherit the iron throne, it is not right! So, either you do your duty as a mother and queen and be there for your son or you will be classified as a traitor and shall be imprisoned in the dungeons!" He shouts in her face.
"I'll be there for my son," she whispers. She was then grabbed by the guards who walked behind her father who was walking in front of them.
As they walked outside, she was shoved inside of a carriage, her hand still resting on her cheek. She hadn't looked up, she kept her head down, how could he do that? He hit her? Why, what happened to her father that loved her when she was a child.
"Mother?" A concerned, but tired voice called out. Alicent looked up and saw Aegon who had a bruise under his left eye along with a scratch to his face.
"Aegon, what did he do to you." She asks as she put both hands onto his cheeks, she was eyeing him with so much worry. While he eyed her now red cheek, his violet eyes had gotten darker, he was feeling so much emotions. He didn't want this.
Alicent saw that he looked as though he were crying, "Mother, tell me what Father's last words were." He questions as his hand was brought up to her cheek.
"He said that Rhaenyra was to be Queen as she would reunite us all. He wanted us to guide her and protect her, but your grandsire hated the idea and has lied to everyone who now supports him to put you on the throne. I'm so sorry, my darling boy." She says as her tears finally fell, "I never wanted this for you."
"Rhaenyra is going to think we used her and manipulated her into this." He says gravely pulling away from his mother. "She is going to think that this was us, until these passed few days, we've given her nothing to trust us with."
"I know," she sighs. "It is why I spoke to Princess Rhaenys that it was not my order, I believe she will tell that to Rhaenyra."
"Why is grandsire doing this?" He asks, "he has always hated me and now suddenly he wants me on the throne."
"He doesn't want a woman on the throne," Aegon looks to his mother who picks at her nails. "I only hope that your sister will come and take what's rightfully hers without a war."
"A war," he breaths.
"Yes, a war." Alicent began, "Rhaenyra may not want it, but you forget about Daemon. Your sister will hold back until you drop the crown, but your grandsire will not let you, and that is what will cause a war."
Aegon looked lost, he puts his hands on his head. "Mother, I cannot do this, I cannot."
"I know, I do not like this either, and I would not be here if father had not threatened me. I'm sorry, I can't do anything right." She says accepting the tightened hug that her eldest son was offering her. No matter what, family stick together through thick and thin.
