During the years of training I prepared for the attack and War to come. My first order of business was all the Jinchuriki. I was not having them killed and then used against us. It was bad enough the past Kages would be. I went to each one. At each one I told them they would be attacked and killed by the Akatsuki then one day reanimated to fight against us. They were at first disbelieving. I showed each brief visions of their deaths. Gaara was a bit different. I told him he would die but rise again. Each was given a ring. For those who died, and stayed dead, their rings brought them back to life and transported them to the village where the 3rd Hokage was. They all swore Loyalty to me after putting on their rings. As such they were marked. For Gaara his ring would hold a small portion of Shukaku so he would not lose him completely, it would also preserve him until he was safe and could be brought back to life.
