I walked back through the woods, taking my time. A mouse ran across my path, its tiny feet moving quickly along the roots of trees and under the brush, concealed once again.

A smile spreads across my face, glad that the little guy knew he was safe in my presence. Most of the wildlife in this area had grown accustomed to me, all except for those 4 Alphas who resided on the west side of the Moonstone Territory. And three of them didn't even know I existed.

Running my fingers across the peeling bark of a tree, I sent a tendril of power into the wounded part of the tree. A deer popped its head out of a bush 10 feet away from me, as if to scold me for repairing the damage it had done.

The bark on the tree reattached itself and several more layers of bark grew over top. "There." I said. "Eat up, without hurting the defenseless tree." That small trickle of my power left me slightly dizzy, successfully taking the edge off of having pent-up energy.

I was pretty sure Jagger wasn't watching me anymore, but I couldn't be quite too sure. The deer blinked at me then turned her head, going to graze on the moss instead. I wasn't sure why he watched me, but what confused me even more was when he never confronted me or ratted me out to the others. But it was Jagger. He probably just didn't care. Jagger just did his own thing.

The attention of the Alphas was dangerous. I couldn't have them knowing that I'd been living this close to them for the last year. Well, really, it was them who moved close to me.

I had been going to school with Jagger, Finn, Ryker, and Ares for years. But a year ago, The Society had tasked them with being the Alphas in charge of the Moonstone Territory. The lead pack. They were still shockingly young, but I wasn't surprised. Their Alpha powers had been powerful since they were children. And not to mention the things they have done to earn the respect of The Society.

Without blinking an eye, I walk through the barrier surrounding my house. Purple shimmered as I stepped through it and I immediately shivered. I hated relying on his magic to keep me hidden, but I had no choice. I didn't have the control of my magic to do anything this big. I could barely direct the swirling power to heal the bark on a tree.

Walking up the wooden staircase, I carefully avoid the broken step. The screen door shuttered as I pulled it open and stepped inside. As the door whacked shut behind me, the windows shook in their panes.

School started in only an hour, I needed to go.

It was nice living all this way from town, and therefore The Society, but school was a hell of a drive. No worries though, because I had a special shortcut.

Like I did a million times a day, I reached up and touched the shard of moonstone tied around my neck. Its cool reassurance gave me all the strength I needed.

Ever since I could remember, my mother always made sure I was wearing the shard of moonstone around my neck. It was a powerful cloaking spell, concealing my wolf within me.

This world was dangerous for someone like me.

The Society was built on standards of pack wolves, long pure bloodlines that held power in names. Elemental powers were passed down from each generation to the next. Each royal wolf was born under an Acrobat class, either Fire, Air, Water, or Earth. Their power manifested in physical form and was proof of their blood right. Acrobat skills are what keep order in The Society, as well as who is the most powerful. Alphas, Betas, Omegas. Not all were moon blessed with an acrobat skill, but those who were, they were at the top of the food chain for a reason.

Compared to Acrobats, Gypsies did not have pure bloodlines. The Gypsy gene rarely passed from parents, and sometimes remained dormant for several generations. Instead of being connected to the elements, Gypsies were connected to the sun and moon. Gypsy powers were spiritual, drawing on the connection of aura and life.
