I held Gray in my arms as her sniffling died down. The occasional sob or hiccup wracked her body, but she had calmed down.

When she started to lift her head from my chest, I pulled back a little to look into her eyes.

Her bottom lip quivered as she looked at my face. Gray's aqua eyes were almost hidden by how puffy and red they were. I felt her hesitation to ask me her next request.

"Sparks, I'm here for you. Whatever you need, remember? Don't be afraid to ask me." I begged.

Of course, I already knew what she needed, but I couldn't bare to take her from the only place my whole pack could keep her safe unless she used her words. I was prepared to get her away from here fast, with that building panic inside of her which was now inside of me too with our link. She truly felt like this was life and death.

Her tiny fingers grasped my forearms and squeezed in a death grip. "Please. I can't stay here."

I nod as she speaks, already picking us off the floor.

"Please."

I run my hand along her back again, starting to purr. "I know baby, I hear you. I got you. I'll get you away from here, Sparks." I reassure her.

There was no way in hell I was letting this wolf go.

But I knew she couldn't be here right now. It was too overwhelming for her and probably for Ares too, even if he didn't realize it. He was trapped in a tunnel vision, only seeing his mother being dragged away from his 5-year-old self, and brutally murdered in front of him.

I wanted to help him, to pull him out of the past, but Gray was my priority.

Helping her wrap her legs and arms around me, I grabbed a hoodie that was oversized even on me. I slipped it over my head and pulled the material over both of us. Then I wrapped my arms around her again, holding her even more securely in my arms.

I felt her body relax around me.

This was no nest, sure, but it was the only comfort I could give her at the moment. I open my bedroom door that leads into the hall, and started making my way downstairs.

"It's okay Sparks. I'm getting you out." I mindlink.

I'm about half way down the stairs when Finn steps into view at the bottom. He arches an eyebrow at me. "Where are you going? And why are you blocking us out?" He asks. "And please don't make me ask why you're smuggling Grayson out of the house. I think the question is a given."

I snort. "I think the answer is a given."

Finn narrows his eyes at me. "Where are you taking her?"

"Out. She can't stay here." Her emotions are my own with the link, and I truly felt that she believed that.

Finn scowled at me. "I'm not going to stop you, but I need to know where. I'm not just going to let you take her."

"Her place." I answer simply, knowing the reaction I'm about to get.

"So Larkin knows where to find her!?" Finn yells, frost forming at his fingertips out of anger. Grayson's fingers tighten on my chest, burying her face further into me underneath the sweatshirt. "You're fucking around if you think the rest of us are going to let you-"

"I'm going to throw up a shield around the whole house. No one will be able to get to her." I explain, making my way down the rest of the stairs.

Finn laughs. "You think your shields are going to stop-"

I summon my skill, throwing up a shield around Finn, encasing him behind a solid wall. His nostrils flare as he takes in the shield blocking him. Cautiously, he places a hand on the shield of air. He knows without trying he can't break it.
