My heart was wrenching painfully inside my chest as I watched Grayson pass out for the second time that day. Her red-brown hair hung limply off of Finn's arm, and was tangled and knotted from everything that had happened.

We had been doing so good at school this morning. She was actually letting me in a bit closer. Not anything overwhelming, but she had practically been eating out of my hand. Now, she couldn't even look at me. She had even seemed almost disgusted by me.

I walked out of the kitchen after Finn had placed Grayson back in bed, staying in the room with her to make sure she didn't do anything rash again.

Finding myself in the den, I collapsed onto a chair and dropped my head into my hands.

Is that what Ares and Jagger felt like? Because goddess this was the worst feeling in the world. I wanted nothing more than for Gray to be safe and happy. But I had hurt her and now she closed herself off from me.

I know exactly when things changed too.

I had replayed it in my head a million times in the last two hours.

She had been fucking abused, and taken against her will and I had called her scars love bites.

I had been so focused on getting to the asshole that I needed something as leverage. I hadn't actually meant it. I didn't think it through.

Her face had been dry after she was raped.

But one comment from me, sent tears cascading down her face.

I had been the one to make her cry.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I raised my head to grab it.

Pulling it out, I looked at the screen and sucked in a sharp breath. All I wanted was to be left alone with my thoughts, and prepare myself for an eternity of groveling at Grayson's feet. But my half-brother's name on the screen made me set those thoughts down for now.

I answered the call and brought the phone to my ear. "Hey."

"Long time no see, Ry." He says with a smile in his voice.

My free hand goes to my mouth, my fingers pinching my bottom lip. It was an old habit I had when I was dreading talking. Realizing what I was doing, I jerked my hand away from my lip and forced the words out. "Thanks for calling me back."

There was a pause on his end of the line. "Everything okay over there?"

I urge my fangs to stay concealed. "No. We have a... friend." I didn't know what to call Grayson. "She... she is... she needs your help." Goddess. I couldn't even string a fucking sentence together. I sighed and pinched my bottom lip, letting my head drop slightly.

"Sounds like she's quite the friend." Logan replies.

When I remain silent, I hear movement from his end of the line.

"I'm on my way now." He says, gathering his things. "Can you tell me anything more? I can call your pack if not."

I drop my head back in my open hand, rubbing the heel of my hand into my forehead.

It wasn't uncommon for me to have trouble talking every now and then, but Grayson needed me to talk. I wasn't just going to shut down because I had fucked things up. "No, no. I can talk."

A pause. "Good."

He waits for me to talk, not pressuring me into a back-and-forth conversation. "Her wolf is suppressed."

"Do you know how long her wolf has been like that?" Logan asks.

I shake my head before realizing that he can't see me. "No." I take a moment. "I guess since she emerged."
