I glance at the clock. Nearly three in the afternoon. Everyone retreated to their bedrooms after lunch. (Takeout, of course. Evangeline cooking one meal for us all was more than enough already.) we also exchanged numbers after the meal, with Christopher claiming that it would be more convenient for us all, seeing as we all live together, and following up on the incident this morning as well.
Right now, the twins are probably gaming, while Asher is either working on his latest design project or finishing his summer homework. Knowing him, it probably the former. While he isn't his usual self around Evangeline, he definitely is more open about his hobby with her. Maybe he's afraid she'll judge him for that. I highly doubt it, so I hope that the lets her in soon.
Over lunch, we explained how things worked around here. It was our choice to move out and live alone, so Mom gave us a subsidy for our monthly rent, as well as for basic needs like groceries. As for the bills and other things, the twins and I all take part time jobs at the mall. Asher and Evangeline can't work (legally) yet, so I suppose picking up after themselves and helping with the household chores will have to do for now.
Mom is loaded, but I guess she thought that this would serve to teach us responsibility and independence. I have to say, its pretty effective. A huge difference between us and the rich brats at Peachtree.
Ping. A notification. I open the chat icon. A message from Mom.
Hi honey,
I hope that you are settling in well with Evangeline. Your stepfather and i are extremely busy at work. I have sent the subsidy for your rent, as well as this semester's school fees to the fund account. Do continue to work hard, and look after Evie. She is a precious girl. I cannot wait to see my sons and daughter again. Till then, take care.
Love,
Mom
I smile to myself. Mom really seems to adore Evangeline. Who wouldn't, anyway?
