Evangeline
What the fuck is happening? Sure, I like to cuddle with my brothers, but I've never been in a situation like this before. The question is, however, why do I feel so nervously exhilarated?! Stupid Evangeline.
Instead of squealing like a pig, I hold my body as still as a statue. Without feeling, motionless. "Is this okay?" I nod, not trusting myself to speak. My runaway tongue has got me into trouble more than a few times already. Lucas seems to realise something, and he stiffens. "Wait, no, I'll get up." I press a hand to his arm, gazing into his sea green eyes. Not blue like his brothers' or Mariam's. "It's fine."
He looks surprised, but says nothing. I am screaming at myself internally, but keep my expression calm. I'm pretty sure my cheeks are flaming, though. Lucas shows me how to start the game. "Is this a live game?" I whisper. "Yeah." He grins and takes a sip of the cocoa I made.
"Okay, ready?"
"Mmhm." He reaches over me to tap on his keyboard, telling me about which keys to press and different shooting techniques. I try to focus on the rapid movement of his fingers, instead of his warmth at my back. Fuck. This is my brother!
Lost in my mind, my fingers move of their own accord under Lucas's careful guidance, manipulating my avatar. "You're not that bad, for a beginner." He smiles adorably, flashing his dimples.
I break out of my momentary horniness when a chorus of gritty male voices sound from the speaker, making me jump a little in shock. "Hey, Luke." The audio crackles a little. I had no idea this PC game had a voice chat function. Lucas laughs. "Hey, guys." I must be making a pretty weird face, because Lucas chuckles apologetically and pats my hand. "Sorry, these are my Valorant buddies." He winks and adds, "Owen could be here too."
There is some feedback from the speaker, then one of them yelling, "Luke is talking to someone!" Another guffaws. "Is that your girlfriend?"
"Lemme see!" Luke coughs loudly, enough to be heard among the cacophony of shouts. "That's my sister, so don't get so excited." Silence. Then howls of laughter ensue. I recognise it as Owen's. So he's online too. I can practically hear the smirk in his voice as he says, "You shitheads. Stop obsessing over Lucas's love life and get one of your own!"
Everyone bursts into laughter, and we continue playing. Gaming is actually quite fun after all. Halfway through, Lucas suddenly starts wriggling around and adjusting me on his lap. I excuse myself from my new acquaintances and turn to face him. "Are you okay? If I'm too heavy, I can get off. It won't hurt my feelings." He laughs. "Nah. You weigh nothing. I was just trying to get my phone out of my pocket without making it seem like I was trying to grab your ass." My stepbrother looks mortified as soon as the words leave his mouth. I giggle and hop off to allow him access to his phone. "You could've just asked." He shrugs. "You were pretty engrossed playing."
I stick my tongue out at him. "Dummy."
