My fingers still on the keyboard, ceasing the incessant flow of clicking. My mind is void of anything related to the theory paper I'm supposed to be writing, due the very next day.
I sigh frustratedly and push away from my desk, shutting my laptop down. Whatever. I can work on that later. The main thing, sitting at the very front of my mind like a heavy rock.
Anthracite eyes, with a sheen of lilac in the dim light and irises with speckled flecks of ultramarine, almost iridescent. Her supple, glossy pink lips shape the words in slow motion as I hold her tiny hands in mine.
"You said you'd wait?"
I shake my head, growling as I scrub a hand over my face. We definitely need a serious talk. I get up from my desk hair abruptly and yank my shirt down, mussing my chocolate curls to make them look somewhat presentable, trudging over to her room. The door is ajar, the room dark. I knock softly, unsure if she's sleeping or not. Where there's no response, I nudge open the door. Her bed is empty, the sheets rumpled at the end of the bed as if kicked away.
Could she have gone to the bathroom? The house is dark and silent. I slip downstairs to check the kitchen. Perhaps she's getting a midnight snack there. Nothing either.
As I pass the foyer, I squint in the dim light, intentionally lifting my feet up higher so as to not trip over my brother's shoes strewn all over the carpet. Asher never, ever puts away his shoes properly. For some reason, they're not there, for once. The corner of my lip tugs up. Ah, well. Asher is Beng neat for once.
As for Evangeline, while the matter I have to del with her is extremely urgent, she's absent. Maybe she's sleeping in the twin's room. Those three have been known, on occasion to stay up too late watching anime till late in the night. It's quite endearing, I must say, seeing them all together like that. It feels natural.
Perhaps even like my feelings for her?

"Holy shit."
Asher falls back against the soft grass with me, both of us sweating and softly panting from our ordeal, glowing and satisfied. I heave myself off of him, face hot, the shyest smile pulling at my lips. I trail my fingers over his chest. Asher definitely isn't as ripped as his brothers, but he is still has a pretty hot body.
Asher's warm hand tenses on my hip.
"Sorry...does it hurt?"
I grin. "Nah. But it is kinda sticky." I run my fingers over the inside of my thigh, swiping away the fluid. The evaporating substance on my skin is spine chillingly cold, combined with the cool bite of the night. It's mine, of course. Coincidentally, Asher happened to have some protection on him.
Asher flushes furiously. I glance at his watch, still on his wrist, the only article of clothing he is wearing as of current, the rest having been discarded in haste. "I hate to ruin the mood, but we should probably get back. It's a little past two." I grab my—Chris's—stolen hoodie and slip it over my top half, covering my naked form and allowing the thick material to brush against my bare skin. I didn't wear a bra, but in the darkness, I can't seem to find my panties, despite fumbling around for a good few minutes while Asher tugs on his shirt, allowing me a final glimpse of his delicious abs before they disappear under the hem of his hoodie.
"Looking for these?" Asher's teeth are once again blindingly bright. Fisted in his hand is a clump of material. "H—hey!" I fall onto my knees and reach for them, but he pulls the out of my reach, and I fall against his chest. Asher wraps a hand around my waist, pouting, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"Awh. Won't you let me keep these as a souvenir of our first time?"
He draws back immediately, looking embarrassed by what just came out of his mouth instinctually off of his innate desire. He releases me immediately, pushing the underwear back into my lap and smacking himself. "Shit. Sorry. I—that was creepy..."
I chuckle at his dual behaviour, from sweet and shy to bold and dominant. I toss them back in his face and tug on Chris's sweatpants. "Keep em. I'll be going commando tonight!" I twist my features into a silly, suggestive expression. The light rain had ceased amongst our haze of passion, but the tiniest drops are now beginning to fall, once again.
"Hold on."
Before we leave, after clearing any evidence of us being there in the abandoned garden, Asher and I scale the wall again, but don't exit the compound just yet. He leads me over to a tree growing just behind the back gates.
"See this tree?" We approach it, fallen leaves crunching underfoot. Upon closer inspection, I can make out engravings in the bark some newly scratched in, some obviously going years back, the lines smoothed over by time and rain and sunshine. I run my fingers over the markings.
"Is this..."
Asher smiles adorably, and I see a flash of silver in the moonlight. "Yep. This is Peachtree High's very own couple's, um, peach tree? Legend says, if you put your names down here, it's guaranteed you'll reman losers for all eternity." He blushes cutely. "We could, um, if you wanna."
I nod. Asher gives me another cheesy smile, offering the penknife to me, handle first. My heart feels unbelievably warm, like there's a fire burning in it. I cant stop the lovelorn smile from stretching my lips too. I tentatively take it from him. We find a large enough space on the bark, mid-trunk, in between the carved names of a 'Gordon' and an 'Ellie'. I vaguely wonder if Carrie and Landon's names are here, too.
We take turns scratching our initials into the wood while the other holds Asher's phone up for visibility. Finally, we enclose them with a crooked heart, much like those of the other couple's names, sealing it with a kiss. I allow my lips to linger. My eyes flick to the tree for a couple seconds.
I guess I'll never see the day where his brother's names are on there, too.
I feel guilty. Asher did all this for me. He's proven countless times how much he loves me, and his brothers are no exception. But confessing to Asher was unintended, something done in the heat of the moment. If i were to do the same to his brothers, what would happen then?
I shake away the thoughts, deciding to focus solely on Asher. The person I have, in the moment.
Be grateful for the things—and people—you have in the present. You never know if you'd lose them, in the blink of an eye.
"Tonight was the best. Did you plan all this?"
I pull back to see his expression. Asher rubs the back of his neck, biting his lip.
"Well, kinda...I didn't plan on losing my virginity to you..." he kisses me again, nibbling on my bottom lip.
"But I'm glad I did."
I grin, feeling touched. I wrap my arms around his body, pulling him to me, like I won't let him go.
Cause I won't.
I tell him exactly that, and whisper to him quietly, words shared between us. "Thank you for everything. Ash. I love you."
He holds my hand tighter and kisses the top of my head.
"Me too, baby."
