Evangeline

It's been almost two weeks since I moved in. I put away the book I was reading. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, and assess my new bookshelf. Max and Chris brought it home from a friend's who didn't want it anymore.

The other day, they helped to repaint and fix it up. My favourite thing about it is the little built in cabinet to the side with glass doors for displaying stuff. I haven't placed anything inside yet.

Aside from the shelf, I got new sheets, a mirror as well as a few other things. Over this period, Max, Asher, Christopher, Lucas and I have fallen into a routine of some sort.

Breakfast together in the morning. Later, the twins leave for their part time work at the mall. The rest of the morning is spent doing our own things. I read or do the chores with Lucas. Laundry is assigned to me, while he handles dusting, mopping and sweeping.

Lunch is usually takeout. Max and Chris come home, Lucas goes to his café job, so I keep Asher company in his room, reading while he does homework or sews little things.

Asher and I talk a lot. While he's still stoic and quiet most of the time, he gets really enthusiastic and passionate when he talks about things he loves. He told me about his hobby. The designs and patterns he's shown me are absolutely stunning. It's clear as day to anyone he has talent. Sometimes, he asks me for teen girl's fashion preferences in general. I wouldn't really know, because I'm not into this kind of thing. But seeing how happy it makes him, I oblige.

Lucas gets off work at around five pm. The twins occasionally help out with dinner prep. I guess those cooking lessons paid off, after all?

After dinner, we all hang out in the twin's room (biggest in the house), watching anime till bedtime.

My brothers and I bonded pretty well over the period. My brothers. It feels natural, referring to them this way.

I glance at the clock. Fifteen minutes to eleven. The twins get off their shift at twelve. I tug on a pair of sweatpants and a white shirt, leaving my hair loose. It's not that hot today.

I walk up to Lucas's door and knock. "Hey. I'm going to the mall for new books. I'll get lunch there." The door swings open immediately. I come face to face with Lucas's torso. "Five minutes," he mumbles. "I'll come with you. Then later I'll go for the afternoon shift."

"Okay. See you downstairs."
