I'm working on filling out some extracurricular activity forms for next year, when a small, warm hand claps down on my shoulder. Without turning around, I already know who it is. A goofy grin spreads across my face, and I swivel around in my gaming chair to face my Princess.
She smiles brightly in return, brushing a lock of her unbound, inky hair over her shoulder.
"Princess," I say by way of greeting as she hands me a cup of tea and some cookies on a plate. "Hi, Lukey." She smirks. So freaking cute. I clear my throat. "You need help with any homework?" She shakes her head. "Nope. Max did. I want to talk to you about something."
I feel a tiny prick of jealousy. Finals are approaching, so I've been pretty busy lately, and haven't spent a lot of time with Evangeline. This is the first time she's done something like this. My heart is pounding with anticipation about what's going to come out of her pretty little mouth. Instead, I school my face into a neutral expression.
"What is it?"
"The twins' birthday is coming up. Asher and I wanted to know if you'd help us throw a party?"She widens those gorgeous eyes, staring at me intently. It'd completely slipped my mind, but I grin and nod excitedly. "Sounds good."
"Yay!" She claps her hands, then puts them behind her back, suddenly shy. "One more thing..." I incline my head, curiosity brimming.
"I feel like I haven't gotten much time with you recently, 'cause you're busy and all, so, um, could I stay and read here while you work? I won't be a nuisance. Promise!" Her cheeks have turned that pretty shade of pink. I'm probably blushing too, but I hope it's not that obvious. She's so adorable!
I let out a laugh and pull her into a one-armed hug. "Of course. That's super sweet of you." Daringly, I press a kiss to her cheek. "Let me finish this form first, then we can do something together." Evangeline pulls back, and smiles sweetly. "Okay."

I hit the enter key and glance behind me at Evangeline, cross-legged on my duvet, nose buried in another one of her fantasy novels. "How's the book?" She looks up, eyes sparkling, then frowns. "Amazing. Did I disturb you?" I shake my head. "Nah. Wanna game?"
She raises her brows and smiles. "Sure." I beckon her over, and fire up my PC. "Can you play Valorant?" Evangeline shakes her head. "Nope. Sorry, I've only watched the twins and Asher go against each other on Legacy of Thieves." I chuckle. "Okay. I'll teach you."
While the game is loading, I realise she is still standing by my side awkwardly, tapping her finders against the back of her hand. I snort softly. "Sit, you fool." There are no other chairs in the room, so I shift a little to the side. She hesitantly steps forward, eyes flicking to me for a second.
"Okay." Why is she so uncharacteristically bashful today? I sigh and pull her down into my lap. Her body stiffens, and I immediately regret my rash decision."Is this okay?" Evangeline nods. "Wait, no, I'll get up." I make a move to do so, but she unexpectedly holds me down with a hand instead. "It's fine."
I'm well aware that this isn't very appropriate. Nope, scratch that. Totally, straight out inappropriate, but I seriously can't help myself. That's no excuse for my actions. I'm not just talking about now. My little sister might not realise it, but I still recall what happened that night.
Knowing her, she just pretends like everything is fine. I have no idea on how to approach her on the subject, nor how to deal with the aftermath.
I am the eldest, therefore I should be poised and mature. But for a little while, I will allow myself this guilty pleasure.
