Owen

Against my better judgement, I went to Luke's house for the twins birthday party. Despite the apprehension at having to see him again, I simply couldn't resist the silently pleading, puppy dog eyes from Evangeline and Lucas.

They're lucky to have her. Just as I am to have Ora.

I arrive shortly at their house after school ends. According to Evangeline's plan, the twins are out of the house and distracted while we prepare for the party.

I use the set of spare keys from under the doormat to enter the house. The moment I step inside the familiar foyer, Asher's blurred figure whizzes past me, followed by Evangeline on Lucas's shoulders, hot on his tail with balloons on strings trailing behind them. I chuckle to myself. This shit is too funny not to record. They didn't notice I'd already arrived, so on silent, quick feet, I toss my bag on the floor and dart after them, simultaneously whipping out my phone to open up the camera app.

Based on the direction of their footfalls, they're headed to the backyard. I can't help but smile at their hysteric shouts and loud laughter as run up the stairs and turn the hallway to where the bedrooms are, entering one at random. I go up to the window with my phone in hand just in time to spot the three of them circle the pool, Asher holding up his middle finger and yelling something unintelligible. Evangeline shrieks and giggles, hands fisted in Lucas's curls as he gapes in disbelief at his younger sibling's vulgar gesture. Asher's barking laughter is cut short when he slips on the edge of the pool and tumbles in with a splash, barely missing the tiled edge.

With my free hand, I cover my mouth in order to muffle the sounds of my laughter. They're so gonna flip when they see this!

Subsequently, Lucas slides his stepsister off of his shoulders and onto the deck, leaping into the pool after his brother. Seconds later, both resurface, with Lucas holding Asher up by his scruff like a disobedient puppy.

Lucas makes his way out of the pool, a glint that promises justice in his eye, as Asher squirms and yells and kicks.

Evangeline doubles over laughing, still clutching the string of balloons. She looks up, staring straight into the camera. Her expression morphs to one of horror.

Lucas and Asher's gaze shoots up. Asher chortles in his brother's grip, and Lucas looks like he's going to murder me.

Guess I better get down there asap. Or, I could just hop out the window because it looks like Luke is going to throw a fit.

I stumble backward, foot catching onto something on the floor. I manage to steady myself on a table nearby. Only the do I realise the reason behind their varying reactions.

The room is decorated in a feminine fashion. Scattered all over the room, in piles underneath the window, draped on the back of the chair next to me, lying on the bedspread, are clothes. Not just clothes, though.

I fling away the piece of fabric clinging to my foot like it's a live snake. Maybe because it is, to me.  The somewhat lacey undergarment is thrown across the room, landing at my red-faced best friend's feet.

If shit wasn't bad enough, its gotten worse now.

Lucas

I appear in the doorway of Evangeline's bedroom, just in time for something pink and lacey flying in my face. The soft fabric falls off and lands at my feet.

Owen stands in the middle of the chaos of her room, holding his phone, face flaming red, as mine probably is. What the...

Evangeline, whom I had left downstairs in my haste to get up here, skids to a halt, crashing into my side. Instinctively, I wrap an arm around her as her eyes widen in silent horror.

I kick away the panties and let go of my stepsister, stalking toward Owen. I grab him by the ear and start dragging him away. He doesn't resist. My rage and Evangeline's embarrassment is almost tangible.

"Cmon," I growl as I try to keep my composure and not think about the fact that I just got up close and personal with my stepsister's undergarments. I can feel my cheeks burning, and a forbidden tingle of arousal. Shit.

I call to Evangeline over my shoulder, hoping my voice doesn't sound weird. "Clean up. I'll deal with him." I discreetly adjust myself so as to not make anyone privy to where my thoughts are headed as I drag my best friend down to the living room.

Even if Owen's my best friend, I swear, if he did anything he isn't supposed to, he's got hell to pay.
