Owen

"Ora, Penny. I'm going next door for tuition," I call out to my guardians.

Penny pokes her head out from the kitchen door. "Okay. Bring this for Angel and the boys, yeah?" My sister in law holds out a box of pastries from the mall, which I take while trying not to snort.

I find it pretty amusing how Penny and Ora refer to Luke's stepsister as 'angel', while constantly calling me a 'little devil'.

"Okay. I'll be home before six."

Daniel

Asher fiddles with the keys to the front door. "This one, stupid," Max grumbles, snatching them out of his younger brother's hands and jamming it into the lock. He pushes the front door open, and we all file inside.

"Put down your things and wash up," Lucas instructs his siblings.

"Yes," they all chorus before doing as told and heading off in different directions.

Lucas turns to me. "Hey, Daniel. If you like, you can take a shower or wait till the twins are ready."

I shrug and put my bag down beside Asher's. "Nah, it's fine. I'll only be here awhile."

"You sure?"

"Yep."

"Okay. Help yourself to anything in the fridge. If you need any of us, just go upstairs." Lucas is a pretty cool guy. As expected from the older brother of my friends. So are his other siblings.

I flash a smile. "Thanks. Got it."

Lucas heads upstairs as well, and I wander a little further into the house, down the corridor branching off from the foyer. I've only ever been to the twin's place a few times, and it has been quite awhile since I was last here. What was it, 3, 4 years ago?

From what I remember, it looks pretty much the same, except for the somewhat softer feel to the house. The same photos decorate the walls in their simple frames, now with the addition of Evangeline smiling face in some of them. There are also traces of her here in the living room, from the fluffy cat socks neatly folded on the sofa, and the earrings on the table.

The house is sparklingly clean as ever, well maintained by the residents. You definitely wouldn't guess that four teen boys and one girl are the only ones who stay here.

I hear a noise from outside the front door. My ears prick immediately. Everyone is upstairs, and Evangeline said their parents were overseas.

So, who...

My questions is answered when Owen, the very person I've been trying to keep away from, steps into the house.
