It was 8 o'clock at night and the stars were twinkling as they sat embedded in the dark blanket of the sky. All the houses had their lights turned off and their windows closed. All except for one. The Redfern house.

The Redfern's were like everyone else on the street. They woke up at 7 and went to bed at 8. Well, at least most of the time. But tonight was an exception, for tonight was when the Magic Carpet and Mr Carpet came.

The Magic Carpet came at 8 o'clock, like always, with Mr Carpet sitting on it. And, like always, waiting at the window was little Jack, his chocolate brown hair a small halo around his head and his grass green eyes wide with anticipation and wonder. After all, it was not everyday that a carpet flies through your window and a magic man comes and takes you on an adventure on that carpet.

Behind Jack, Sophie stood smiling as she opened the window for the Magic Carpet and Mr Carpet.
"How are you today, Mr Carpet?" She asked with a smile as the Magic Carpet landed gracefully on the floor and Mr Carpet stood up and stepped off of it.
"Well, young Sophie, I am absolutely, marvellously well! Thank you for asking. Now, how are you, Sophie?" Mr Carpet exclaimed with a flick of his coat and a leap in the air.

"I am very well, thanks. How about we go on an adventure?" Sophie said, her eyes ablaze with excitement. Hearing the word 'adventure', Jack turned away from gazing up at the sky and rushed forward to stand next to Sophie.
"An adventure! Please, can we go on one? I would love to go on an adventure. Maybe we could go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower! Or to Rome to see the Pope! Or England to visit the Queen!"
The words seemed to flow out of Jack's mouth like a never-ending river, until it was stopped by Sophie's hand.

As Sophie pulled her hand away from her younger brother's mouth, she announced, "Don't get ahead of yourself, Jack. Mr Carpet is the one taking us on the adventure, so he will decide where we go." Once she had finished speaking, Sophie looked expectantly over at Mr Carpet.

Surprised, Mr Carpet just stood there, for he had never said that they were going to go on an adventure and yet Jack and Sophie knew that they were. He had wanted to keep the adventure a surprise for them, but it seemed that they had figured it out on their own. Gathering his thoughts, Mr Carpet straightened himself out and declared, "Young Jack and young Sophie, we are definitely going on an adventure! To where though, is a secret."

Sophie and Jack cheered as they hugged Mr Carpet and rushed over to the Magic Carpet, wanting to get on it first. Jack did, for he was so excited that he ran faster than usual. Smiling at the siblings antics, Mr Carpet walked over and joined them on the carpet. They all say down and he exclaimed in a loud voice, "To the adventure!" The carpet lifted from the ground and flew out of the still open window. It flew away from the Redfern house, huddled in with all the other houses that housed people who were just like everyone else. The silent words that Sophie, Jack and Mr Carpet all had in their heads followed them as they flew through the air.
'The adventure has started!'

Hi. Hopefully this is good. Comments are welcome. I will try to update everyday, but sometimes I won't be able to.
