Lucas' watch reads 10:15pm. Silvia, his Norwegian Forest cat, rubs against his leg as he walks down the road to the shops. His grandfather had asked him to go get some more food, for they had almost run out of food. He had asked why he had to go, and his grandfather had replied with,
"I am too old. I cannot go. Kyle cannot go, either. He is younger than you and would get lost,"
So here he is, walking down towards the shops late at night. Thoughts rush through his head like a whirlwind, though on the outside he was the epitome of being calm; what will he do tomorrow? Will he sleep in? Go to a friends house? His thoughts are cut off when he arrives at his destination and his mind focuses on the task at hand; buying some food that his grandfather would 'approve' of.
~*Timeskip of food buying*~
Walking up the road, Lucas is bored and his arms are heavily laden with bags of food. He curses under his breath whenever one of bags cuts into his arm. He looks down at his feet, only to see that Silvia is not there. Panic ripples through him, and he looks in every direction to find his beloved cat.
In the silence, a slight meow can be heard from an alleyway. Knowing that it is Silvia, Lucas jogs as fast as he can towards the alleyway and peers in. There, on the floor next to the wall, is Silvia, standing next to a stranger with their hood pulled up and a bag at their feet. The stranger is bent over and is petting Silvia. Lucas chuckles a bit. Silvia doesn't mind strangers, as long as she gets to be petted.
The strangers head snaps up and dark red-copper eyes stare into Lucas' forest green ones. There is no emotion in the eyes except for surprise. The silence between them is as thick and heavy as fog, and it is suffocating Lucas.
"Sorry about Silvia..." He says, and the suffocating foggy air dissipates. The stranger's smile is just able to be seen from under their hood.
"It's ok. She's not doing any harm being here," the stranger replies, his words edged with an unknown happiness.
"What are you doing here?" Lucas asks, and then there is silence. After what seems to be some time, but was only a few seconds, the stranger moves over and reaches into his bag. He pulls out sprays can, each with a different colour on them, and sets them on the floor. He then gestures to them, saying,
"Graffiti..."
Lucas smiles and walks over.
"Cool. Can I help with something?"
The stranger is clearly shocked at the question, for he stutters a bit over his words,
"S-s-sure. I mean, if you want to..."
He rubs the back of his neck as he moves his head away from Lucas.
"I would love to help! Never graffitied on anything before, so it'll be a first for me!"
The stranger chuckles at Lucas' enthusiasm and picks up the yellow spray can, shaking and starting to spray on the wall. Lucas picks up a green can and starts to spray something on the wall. Silvia rubs onto the strangers legs and stretches, watching him as he paints.
After a few minutes, Lucas' phone buzzes in his pocket and he stops. His grandfather has texted him. The stranger looks over and says,
"It's alright if you have to go. I'll be the same time tomorrow if you want to come back,"
Lucas looks up to him and smile, accepting and saying,
"I will see you tomorrow, then! Goodbye."
He picks up the bags that he had left on the floor, and gestures to Silvia to follow him. She rubs against the stranger one last time before following him out of the alleyway and onto the path next to the road.
