Hi! So, this term in English we are learning about social issues. That means our creative writing exercises link into social issues. I hope that this is good. Enjoy!!

The cold wind made me shiver as I held up my sign. People walked past, paying no attention to the others and I. On the other side of the road was a park that was filled with colour. Funny, that the only think keeping the colour from the darkness is a road.
The day went on with less people walking around outside. I got a few coins, probably $3 and 20c at most. The others started to huddle with each other, to stay warm. No one came to me. I was alone in this world, while everyone else had someone.
It was late at night when they walked past. They were teenagers, going out with friends. They were chatting loudly with each other and laughing. One girl was dragging behind. She didn't talk very much with them and when she did, it was in a whisper. She didn't laugh, either.
As they walked past, they averted their eyes and one looked disgusted. They didn't stop. But the girl did. She bent down next to me and took off her jacket, saying,
"Here, you must be cold."
She gave me the jacket and ignored her friends calling her,
"Sarah! Come on!!"
She pulled $20 out of her wallet and an apple she had been holding. Handing them to me, she smiled. Not a patronizing smile, but a warm one. A few seconds later, she was gone, but her warmth stayed with me.
The next few days, she didn't come back. I started to lose hope. But then, I started to wake up with an apple clutching in my hand everyday. She had visited me and helped me.
For the first time in my life, I smiled.

I hope it wasn't too rushed and you enjoyed it. 😀
Have a good day!! ❤️
