Puppy Love

Jungkook held Sam in one hand, and held up the ID he had found in the alley in the other, matching the address to the house in front of him.

"Well, this is it." Jungkook pocketed the ID and looked down and the wiggly puppy. "Is this your home?"

"Arf! A-arf!" The puppy ran in tight circles on Jungkook's palm, tail wagging fast enough to create a breeze.

Jungkook smiled, patting its fluffy white head softly. "Careful, you're still healing."

He walked up the door, noticing how all the curtains were drawn across the windows.

Shifting to hold Sam in a better position, Jungkook raised his free hand and knocked on the door.

A few moments of silence passed before Jungkook did it again.

More silence.

"Hm, maybe Namjoon isn't home." The student mused. He looked down at the puppy. "Should we come back later? Or tomorrow?"

"Arf!" Sam leaped from Jungkook's arms, making the boy gasp and flail to catch him.

The puppy landed on the welcome mat and raced to the door, standing on his hindlegs to paw at it.

Jungkook sighed and knelt down. "I'm sorry buddy, no one's home."

"Arf! Arf!" Sam raced in circles before pawing at the door again. He tried to dig his way through the solid wood.

Jungkook dutifully knocked a few more times and rang the doorbell, but no one came to answer his calls.

"A-arf! Arf!" Sam barked, running in more circles.

Worried that the tiny puppy might hurt himself, Jungkook scooped him back up.

"It's okay buddy, we can come back tonight." Jungkook told him, walking away from the house. "Come on, we still have to go shopping to get you some things. You can pick out what kind of treats you want."

Sam let out a sad huff, plopping down in Jungkook's hands.

Behind them, a figure inside the house pulled the curtain back and watched them leave.
