Namjoon bit back tears as he was led down a narrow hallway covered in plush carpet and walls adorned with expensive paintings.
He didn't look at them, unable to raise his head as Won guided him to the door at the end of the hall. He knocked, and it opened.
A man Namjoon had never seen before ushered them inside the room, which looked to be a large office. Won and Namjoon entered, followed by Kang and Killer, and a sulking Yim.
"So, this is him, then?" The unknown man asked, looking Namjoon over.
"What else were you expecting, brother?" Yim rolled his eyes. "We sent you pictures of the product."
"Isn't he a beaut?" Won gushed to Yue. "The perfect skin and teeth were genetic, of course, I picked those out. But the dimples were serendipitous."
Yue leaned in close to Namjoon, whose heart pounded faster.
So this was the man he was going to be sold to. His forced himself to meet the mans eyes, surprised to see he didn't look mean.
Won rambled on about Namjoon, particularly his above average intelligence, but Yue didn't seem to be listening. For some reason, he glanced at the large closet at the other end of the room.
The conversation turned to payment, and Namjoon looked down at the floor. He hated the suit he was wearing. He hated this was happening. He hated that he wasn't in Korea anymore. He hated not knowing where Yoongi and Jungkook were. He hated himself for running away and getting them involved. He hated all the men in this room. He hated that he couldn't have just been born a normal human.
"That's that then." Won said happily, pocketing a check.
Namjoon looked up, surprised to see it was already over.
He had just been sold.
His life as he used to know it was over. And all it had taken were just a few seconds.
"Finally." Yim muttered. "Free of a mutt."
"Bye, Namjoon." Kang called, leading Killer away now that he didn't have a responsibility to guard the boy anymore.
"My Joonie," Won hugged him, forcing Namjoon out of his seat. "I'll miss you, my little pup. Maybe Yue here will bring you back to Seoul sometimes."
Namjoon didn't have the energy to lie and say he would like that.
He felt numb.
He would never see Jungkook or Yoongi again.
A hand placed itself on his shoulder and he jumped, looking up to see Yue smiling down at him. The man raised a finger to his lips, and Namjoon stayed quiet, though he wanted to ask what was going on.
The door to the office shut, and Yue waited until the retreating footsteps could no longer be heard, before quickly walking to the closet across the room.
Namjoon watched in confusion as Yue opened it, and then he gasped when he saw Yoongi and Jungkook race out of it.
"Joonie!" Jungkook leaped at the boy, tackling him to the floor, and a moment later, Yoongi landed on top of them.
There were tears and laughter and exclamations as all three of them tried to talk at once.
Finally, Yue helped them all to their feet. "Long story short, your friends love you very much, Namjoon. They came all the way here to tell me your story, and once I heard it I knew you belonged with them."
Namjoon gasped. "W-wait, belong with them?"
"You're ours, Joonie." Yoongi hugged him tightly. "You're coming home with us."
"Hopefully not right away." Yue said. "You only just arrived, I was hoping I could show you around a bit first. And my wife still wants to meet you, Namjoon."
"Let's stay as long as possible." Jungkook urged them. "The food here is the best!"
Even as Yue explained everything to him again as he showed them around the large mansion, Namjoon still couldn't believe it.
These humans had done all this work and come together for him... and all he was was just a dumb puppy.
"You're worth it, Namjoon." Yoongi said, as if reading his mind.
Despite not being back in Korea yet, as the student and the doctor squished him in yet another bone crushing hug, Namjoon knew he was finally home.
