Her mouth was still dripping with the blood of the last survivor...she had just killed him. As she stood over the dead body, Lusie could not recognise the man whose face she had just torn off. She also couldn't believe that she was capable of such savagery, however, the evidence was dripping all over her face...red, like fine wine. The undead creatures could still be heard roaming around the building, banging on the doors and grunting at each other. Lusie was still confused but at the same time she knew exactly what was going on. It felt like she was in a dream, everything was strange but felt normal. The longer she sat in confusion, the more she understood what was going on.
In this realm, every single being is an undead creature- a corpse that behaved as if it were still alive. These creatures were ugly, mindless and of course...dead.
...but not really.
The undead creatures only had one basic instinct; kill to eat. And, in this realm, every being was an undead creature...every being except one. Currently, that one... was Lusie Lette- The survivor.
The reality of this realm was like a game of tag. All the undead creatures were "it" as they would hunt down the survivor to kill him/her. This meant that currently, the entire realm was looking for Lusie Lette. Every creature in the realm could sense the blood running through her veins and every one of them was thirsty for it.
Thus, the survivor's curse
The game of tag would end when the survivor is killed by an undead creature...
...however it doesn't end there.
When the survivor dies, the undead creature that killed him/her would inherit the curse of the survivor and revert back to being alive again. They would then become the new cursed survivor and the game of tag would begin again in a cycle of life and death. Before she became the survivor, Lusie was one of the undead creatures herself. Now, after killing the previous survivor, Lusie has become the most famous person in the realm.
...but the curse wasn't the only thing she inherited.
As an undead creature, Lusie never slept...none of the undead did. But, now that she was alive again, Lusie would fall asleep for the first time in a long time. Also, she would dream again, however, these were no normal dreams. In her dreams, Lusie would live the lives of all the survivors that were cursed before her and when she woke up, the dreams would stay with her. They became a part of her memories...memories of other people's cursed lives.
The first memory she gained from her dreams, was the memories of the man she had just killed- the last survivor. The second memory she gained, was the memory of the survivor that came before that man. Overnight, Lusie would have gained enough memories to make her feel as if she had always been the survivor. Before the break of dawn, she would have had over a hundred new memories and when she woke up, her reality would have become clearer than ever. Every survivor that has lived and died has passed their memories unto the next survivor and the next survivor would make more memories to pass on. This was the reality in the realm of the dead.
The new memories that Lusie had acquired were overwhelming. This was because they were so many people that came before her. The clearest memory she had was the first memory...the memory of the survivor she just killed. The clarity of every memory she had after that became lesser and lesser. The older memories were harder to make out, so hard, that she did not know how the curse even began. Trying to make out the memories of the first cursed survivors was like trying to remember the first few days after your birth.
It was impossible...
...however, just because you cannot remember something, doesn't mean it has been forgotten, memories come in different forms. To Lusie, most of the memories she gained came in the form of a dream, however, the strongest memory came in the form of a will. And, just like the curse, this will has been passed down the line since the age of the first cursed survivor.
So, what will did she inherit? To understand that, you must first learn about the port.
...
The port connects all the nine realms to each other and makes it possible to travel from one realm to the other. Every realm has its own port and every port is located in the same place on the cosmic planet of every realm. Every port is a giant hollow tree filled with a trembling mist of rainbow colours.
Ports can only be accessed in the presence of a god or a being of royal blood. Within the cosmos, beings of royal blood are believed to be the closest descendants of the gods. This is because royal bloods and gods are blessed with a certain kind of magic that runs through their veins. This magic allows them to affect other types of magic in the cosmos. This includes the magic of the port.
...
The will Lusie inherited, like every one that came before her, is the will to escape the realm of the dead. However, the port within the realm is inactive. So, in order to escape, every cursed survivor has been searching for an undead creature of royal blood. This way, if the curse is inherited by a creature of royal blood, he/she would be able to come back to life and access the port to leave the realm.
...this was a suicide mission.
If Lusie lette were to be the one to find a royal blooded creature, she would have to give up her life, so that the creature would kill her and become the survivor. Only then can the port be accessed. All Lusie had to do was put her life on the line... to find someone she didn't know ...just so that she could give up her life in the name of fulfilling a will that was not hers to begin with.
