It would take a few hours for a mortal to die of heat in the Fire realm. It would take the same amount of time for them to freeze over in the ice realm. This was exactly what happened to Shade and the twins. They were frozen, buy not dead...

...not completely.

The weather in the ice realm was not suitable for mortals, it wasn't even ideal for gods. An immortal would suffer the consequences of the freezing cold; however, a mortal would be put under a state of freezing sleep.

...or Schrodinger state.

It was as if they were dead and alive at the same time. In order to reverse their state, Reina had to look for  man called Ymir.

Ymir is a being almost as big as the ice giants, however, he wasn't covered in ice like they were, he had normal human skin covering his massive body

In the cosmos, there are three realms of giants: Fire, Ice and Chaotic. The ice giants have cold, blue skin and fire giants have hot red skin. Both fire and ice giants seem to have a bit of transparency to their skin colour. This meant that the veins under their skin could be seen moving the blood around their body. Both ice and fire giants are almost twice as big as humans...some even three times as big.

The last of the giant realms is the realm of the chaotic giants. Chaotic giants- Like Ymir, have normal human skin. However, they don't only double or triple the size of humans...they multiply them several times over.

Ymir resembled a chaotic giant; however, he was barely as big as an ice or fire giant.

Ymir didn't seem to be bothered by the icy cold temperature of the ice realm. In fact, he seemed to be comfortable with it. His true origin was unknown even to him. The earliest memory he has, is a memory of drowning. According to him, few years ago he woke up in a pool of water.

This was the very pool with magical abilities that Reina was searching for.

It was called the warm pool. This was because even though the temperature of the ice realm was freezing cold, the warm pool...

...like its name...

...was never cold. Also, the pool had been filled with strange items...items like jewellery, A sword, and strangest of all...a dead giant. What was most strange about the giant within the pool was that it was unlike any ice, fire or chaotic giant...it looked like its skin was made of rock.

...but more on that later.

The sword found within the pool was not just any ordinary sword...it was one of the cursed weapons of the alpha gods...

...but we'll come back to that.

Over the years he spent in the ice realm, Ymir would always visit the warm pool, he seemed to be attracted to it and it was the only source of water in the ice realm that wasn't frozen. He would often bath and drink this water and he believed that the water from the warm pool is what has been keeping him alive and adapting him to the temperatures of the ice realm.

Somehow, he wasn't wrong.

The warm pool was located on the outskirts of the ice realm- where no ice giants ever ventured. The landscape of the area was a mess, it seemed as though a battle had recently been fought there. At the centre of all the destruction, there was a small dent in the ground. This dent was filled with steaming water. The water wasn't hot, but because of the extreme cold temperature around it...it seemed to let off some steam from its surface.

This was the warm pool.

It was a long and tiring journey, but with Ymir beside her- as her guide, Reina was able to make it before it got dark.

Whilst describing the warm pool, Ymir had left out how beautiful of a sight it was. It felt like looking at a dream. The pool had a beautiful shimmer of blue light that reflected off the ice around it. The water within the pool had a very subtle breathing motion and the steam that escaped the pool danced away in a song of rainbow colours. It was truly a magical sight.

Through the clear transparency of the water, the previously mentioned items could be seen lying at the bottom of the pool. Gold, Silver and even pearls were amongst them and beneath the jewellery, there was a dead giant made of stone. Only Ymir, and a few other ice giants know about the existence of the warm pool, however, the questions that surrounded the dead giant beneath the warm pool were still unanswered.

After filling a container with the water from the warm pool, Ymir convinced Reina to have a drink herself. The moment she felt the warmth of the water touch her lips, and fall down her throat, Reina could no longer feel the freezing temperature around her.

It was as if she had stepped out of her freezing cold office, only to be hit by the warm rays of the sun.

The ice realm didn't seem to have a sun though. This was because of the frozen clouds that blocked its rays. The warmth Reina now felt, came from within her. It was as if the inside of her body, was cooler than the temperature of the ice realm...so, to her, the ice realm wasn't cold anymore. This was exactly how Ymir, and every ice giant in the realm felt every day.

After experiencing the change in her body, Reina was sure that the water from the warm pool would bring her friends back...

...and surely it would.

However, at the moment, a few complications had just stepped through the port and entered the ice realm. These complications came in the form of beta gods who seemed to be programmed to do one thing...

...to search for and kill all mortals.
