Today Max is going out with Luka, and i'm gonna give Emma the most fun-filled 7 hours of her life. She does so much for me and Max; it's the least i can do for her.
"I love you, baby boy. Mummy will see you in a couple of hours, okay?" Emma holds Max's head in her hands and kisses his face all over, resulting in several resounding giggles. He's been dreading this day for a while now. "I love you too, mummy..."
When the door clicks shut, Emma turns to me with a small smile. I step forward and grasp her small hands in mine. "I have a day filled with romance for you. Can you pack a small bag for me? I thought i'd take you to St. James' Park."
"Awh, really? I love it there, it's the first place i went to with Max..."
"I know that silly, you told me on our first date. I thought we could make more memories there. If you don't mind me stealing your special spot, that is?"
"Of course not. It's just what i need. Much better than going stir crazy in this house." we share a kiss before leaving for our destination.
I step out of the car and notice the park's busy state, eyeing the area. After offering Emma my hand to step out, she gleefully smiles. "It's as beautiful as i remember 3 years ago. I can't wait to make more memories here."
We stroll down to the gardens of the esteemed park, eyeing the beautiful array of plant-life. I take liberty of picking a blue rose from a bed and lifting it to Emma. "Lauren, you can't pick the flowers here!"
"Pssh, no one's gonna know. You've always known i was a rule breaker." she gently pries the flower out of my fingers and sniffs deeply at its sweet scent. "That's very cute, thank you."
"I picked blue because pink is too predictable and red is too bold, making blue the perfect contrast, which you my dear, are." she blushes deeply at my compliment. I chuckle and swipe my thumb over the rosy peaks of her plump globes.
"The last time you blushed like that was after i had sex with you for the first time."
Emma rolls her eyes northwards, "Must everything come back to sex with you?"
I laugh without answering, leading her toward the next part of our day.
The Blue Bridge is the next place i long to take Emma, her fawning over it is just enough evidence i need to know it was a good choice.
"When Max was little and we'd cross over a bridge, i used to tell him to throw a stick over the edge and watch it come out of the other side. It was a lot more exciting to him when he was a baby."
"That's funny to me. I always used to throw rocks over the cusp of the railing to let anger out." even though Emma and i are polar opposites, we somehow gel perfectly well together. I love that about us.
"Rivers have always intrigued me...they go and go and go for a long time, until they reach the edge and fall over, until they eventually flow down into a waterfall. After a lot of effort and travel, they finally reach a beautiful ending. That's what i hope life leads to."
