"I don't..." The uncomfortable darkness that took over my vision left me even more concerned than before. I had stood unwillingly still and Maki right behind me, her hands occupied with the cloth occupying my vision.
"I don't think this is a good idea." I restated, my eyes narrowing and searching for any sight of light, but Maki was too smart for me, the cloth darker than midnight and completely unnerving. It made the idea of fighting with tools way more complex than what I had preferred. "You'll never know unless you try." She hit my hand that had ever so slight raised the blindfold covering my vision.
"New style?" Unfortunately making his strong appearance I stood to adjust the black cloth up and glance at the white-haired man. My gaze was stern before I looked back to Maki with a plead in my tone and expression. "When can I take this off?" I ignored the additional voice, the gleeful and jesting voice bringing to Gojo, I could tell he was wearing a smile. "Not now." Maki said, her voice a little distant. "Yeah wait for me to get a picture." I lifted the sword and swung nearby aiming for the voice with no effort. "Close." A clicking shutter made me swing again indicating the sound of a photo taken. "You keep getting closer — I think you're actually way better without vision."
"Stop messing around for a moment so (Y/N) can focus." Maki stated and even without vision I could imagine her threatening side-eye. "Sure sure, I've also got priorities to prioritize." I turned to his voice as he walked away, following the sound as he distance himself before turning back to my original spot.
"I'll give you a countdown." She started calmly and my brows slightly creased together. "And remember not to think too much." She added slowly and I nodded in confirmation, I took a deep breath and let the nerves shake throughout my body a unsettled feeling building up in my stomach.
"3...2...1."
Usually, Maki is the first to attack, my timidity held me back but I knew if I waited I would instantly be knocked down. She was quick, and that made things hard, especially considering that I'm unable to see a single thing —
Cutting my thoughts short I pushed myself back, I wasn't able to strike first, she's way ahead of my steps. I felt a brush of wind and moved away again, my heightened senses kept my reflexes on edge and prepared to act even with the slightest breath of air. I kept telling myself to focus when negative thoughts would surface — I couldn't be nervous, it was my greatest distraction. It would keep my mind occupied when my attention needed to be entirely on the fight.
"What's she doing?" My train of thoughts broke and I was instantly met with a shudder of air my eyes widening — even if it wasn't noticed — and my breaths falling short. A sudden jolt was sent through my body and I had dropped down, one of my hands catching myself before I hit the ground while the other clutched my weapon tightly.
"Some hellish training Maki wants to put her through."
"Scary..."
"Salmon."
Letting myself take a deep breath I pushed myself back and my weapon had officially collided with Maki's and I finally felt as if the round had started.
Adrenaline pulsed through me and my lips pursed together tightly— I wasn't thinking, I was just acting by relying on every sense that wasn't vision. She was quiet so I could barely here the grass fold and crunch so I really had to rely on my sense of touch, something about stepping close enough will set my senses into a frenzy and force me to react.
It was almost as if all my reflexes were subconscious and the only control I had over this was the sword tightly in my palm.
"She's doing pretty good." A small smile broke out across my face, surprisingly I had stood on my feet longer than normal and the only reason I had gotten out was when the blindfold slid down my face and my eyes welcomed the brightness.
