Chapter 1: It's Alive

Avery says, "He wasn't moving, okay, and he was not breathing." Emily says, "Because he was dead." Spencer says, "He is dead. Not was, is." Emily says, "So, unless we're saying Ian's a zombie, someone moved the body." Hanna says, "It was probably stuffed in the trunk of A's car." Emily says, "It's probably on its way to a meat grinder." Avery wrinkles her nose in disgust and says, "Oh, Em, come on, you got to quit watching those horror films." Spencer says, "You guys, A's probably watching us right now." Emily says, "Anyone of these people could be A." Hanna says, "Half the town is here." Garrett walks over to them and says, "They want to see you girls down at the station. I'm here to drive you." Avery says, "Uh, well, I saw my parents earlier. They're going to want to know where we're going." Garrett nods and says, "They'll meet us there. Come on. Let's go." The girls get into Garrett's patrol car, and he turns down an alley and Hanna says, "I thought we were going to the police station." Garrett stops the car and Spencer says, "Why are we stopping?" Emily says, "Garrett?" Garrett says, "Let's go." Hanna says, "No, I'm not going anywhere." Garrett says, "Get out of the car." The girls then get out of the car and Garrett says, "It's not safe to talk in the car." Hanna says, "Well, it doesn't really feel safe out here either." Garrett says, "Look, I'm sorry if I scared you but there's some things you guys need to know before you start answering questions." Spencer says, "We're listening." Garrett says, "Alright, the police cannot know that you were blackmailing Ian and that I was helping you. It's a serious crime." Avery says, "Well, what about the messenger?" Garrett says, "He doesn't want any trouble." Hanna says, "And the money?" Garrett says, "For now, I'm hiding it." Spencer says, "What about the videos?" Garrett says, "You still have them?" Spencer says, "Yeah, we made a copy." Garrett says, "Okay, look, I've never asked you guys how you got them, and I don't want to know. But you better be prepared to tell the police how you did because that's, that's the first question they're going to ask you." A man on Garrett's radio says, "Officer Reynolds, what's your ETA?" Garrett speaks into the radio and says, "Uh, yeah, we're enroute." The man says, "Roger that." Garrett says, "I hate asking you to lie like this. But are we all clear?" Spencer nods and says, "We'll keep the video as a secret." Hanna says, "For now." Garrett says, "Okay, good. Let's get back." The girls then get back into the car and are on their way to the police station.
