Chapter 8: Save the Date

Avery's in Spencer's car with Spencer and Hanna. Hanna says, "It was just the two of you, sitting in Garrett's car?" Spencer says, "I didn't know where else to meet him. It wasn't like I could ask him that stuff down at the precinct." Avery says, "How did you get away from him?" Spencer says, "When you sent me that text, I told him it was from my mom. She wanted me home ASAP. Am I still shaking? I'm still shaking." Hanna says, "Yeah, we're all shaking. Can you turn on the heat? You could make a slushy back here." Avery says, "Guys, why would Jenna give him that lantern?" Hanna says, "You don't know that she gave it to him." Spencer says, "What do you think, he bought it at the blind artists crafts fair? Course she gave it to him. The question is, when did they become buddies? And why?" Hanna says, "Spencer, they grew up across the street from each other. His parents still live in that house. Maybe he's just bringing raw meat to Jenna's cat." Spencer says, "Toby lives there, too, and they don't have a cat." Hanna says, "Then maybe he was bringing over raw meat for Jenna." Avery sees Emily coming and she says, "Here comes Em." Spencer says, "Who's living in her house now?" Hanna says, "Some losers who can't figure out the alarm system. They've tripped it like three times. And the security company keeps calling her mom in Texas." Emily gets into the car and Spencer says, "Everything okay?" Emily says, "Yeah, it's fine. It's just so weird to walk in there and see other people's stuff." Hanna says, "Hey, why don't you tell 'em to lay off the alarm for a couple of days?" Emily says, "I'm guessing they don't feel safe." Hanna says, "Well, they will now. I'm sure Avery's parents are going to have Mike on lockdown till he turns 18." Avery says, "You did not just say that, Han." Hanna says, "What? I'm not judging. I'm just guessing that your little brother will find another hobby besides breaking and entering." Avery scoffs and Spencer says, "Still talking." Avery says, "Guys, look, I don't know what's going on with my little brother. If I knew, you would know." Spencer then sees a car pull up and Spencer says, "Emily? Isn't that Garrett's car?" Emily says, "I think it is." Avery says, "Where's he going?" Emily says, "To his parents, I guess." Garrett gets out of his car and the girls duck in the car, so Garrett doesn't see them. Avery says, "Oh, my God. He's going into Jenna's house." Emily says, "Is Toby home?" Spencer says, "No, he went to go get his parents from the airport and I thought he said Jenna went with him." Emily says, "He's going inside. He just walked in." The girls then get out of the car and walk towards the house and Spencer looks at Hanna because her heels are making a lot of noise and she says, "Can you walk any softer?" Hanna says, "Please, Jenna can't hear us. She's blind." Spencer says, "You..." Hanna says, "You know what I mean." They walk up to the window, and they see Jenna in a silk robe, and she takes it off to reveal a lace dress that they saw Jenna buy at the store months ago. They gasp when they see Garrett behind Jenna and they kiss.
