Chapter 15: A Hot Piece of A

The girls walk back into the greenhouse and Avery says, "How hard did you him, her, it?" Spencer says, "Didn't run like a 'her'." Hanna says, "I thought it was an animal." Spencer says, 'It was. Is." Emily says, "Okay, where is the box?" Spencer says, "You guys, this phone's locked." Emily says, "And where were you guys? I thought we were supposed to meet here, wasn't that the plan?" Avery looks at Emily and says, "Look, I'm so sorry, Em, I dropped a huge bomb at home. My parents wouldn't let me go, and I had to climb through Mike's window." Spencer says, "And Toby came in and totally cornered me with all of these questions about why I was acting this way, and he would not leave without answers." Hanna says, "Kate's moving to Rosewood." The three girls look at Hanna and all say, "What?" Hanna nods and says, "Yeah. Yeah, my dad and Isabel got married and now they're looking for a house here in Rosewood. So, now I have more than one monster in my life. Okay? I win." Emily says, "No, you don't. I was almost killed. These aren't highlights, Hanna. This is glass in my hair." Hanna says, "Okay." Spencer says, "You guys, can you talk to me for a second? I'm holding A's phone in my hand. What are we doing with this?" Emily says, "Something, before A knows we have it." Spencer says, "Hanna, call Caleb." Hanna says, "Why?" Spencer says, "He's the best way to get information--" Hanna cuts Spencer off and she says, "No, leave him out of this." Spencer says, "But he's our best shot at tracing this back to A." Hanna says, "There are other people, okay. We'll take it to a phone store tomorrow." Spencer says, "The pho... the phone store?" Hanna says, "Well, then, call technical support. We have someone in Pakistan do it." Emily says, "Hanna!" Avery says, "This can't wait until tomorrow." Emily says, "Once A realizes it's missing." Hanna says, "It's... I get it, okay? But this phone is connected to Jenna and Office Garrett. Caleb already has bad history with her and the police. We're not going there!" Avery says, "Okay. But if he can find something that finally nails the two of them together--" Emily cuts Avery off and says, "At least consider it." Avery says, "Hanna, come on. Think this through." Hanna says, "I am." Spencer says, "Okay, you done thinking? 'Cause we're running out of time here. Wait, is Caleb still crashing with Lucas? Where's Lucas' house? I will go over--" Hanna cuts Spencer off and angrily says, "Spencer, stop giving these orders! We're not your winged monkeys!" Avery says, "Okay, guys, stop! Okay, there has to be a way we can get Caleb to help without--" Avery gets cut off by A's phone ringing and Spencer holds out the phone to Avery and says, "Answer it." Avery grabs the phone and says, "What do you want me to say?" Avery looks down at the phone and she says, "It's blocked." Then they hear glass breaking and move out the way when the glass falls from the roof. Emily says, "I've got Caleb's number. I'm calling him." They all run out of the greenhouse and drive away. Later, everyone's at Spencer's and Caleb's there trying to see what's on the phone. Spencer points to the computer screen and says, "What's that number?" Caleb says, "Tells me how much data is currently loaded on the phone. It's a lot." Emily says, "You mean like photos? Videos?" Caleb says, "Definitely more than Angry Birds." Spencer says, "And how long will it take to download?" Caleb says, "We're not there yet." Caleb looks at Hanna and says, "Hanna." Hanna looks at Caleb and says, "Hmm?" Caleb says, "You alright?" Hanna says, "Yeah." Caleb says, "Alright, can somebody tell me whose phone this is or--" Spencer cuts him off and says, "We can't... yet. The less you know right now, the better." Caleb says, "Okay. Well then can somebody tell me why Emily smells like a bag of mulch?" Avery says, "Wait. Something just came up." A warning label says data removed. Caleb says, "Crap." Emily says, "What just happened?" Caleb says, "Phone got bricked." Avery says, "Translate, please." Caleb says, "The owner shut down the phone from their computer." Spencer says, "What? So, we lost everything?" Caleb says, "We never had everything. I have some files, but they're locked, and they're probably corrupted." The girls sigh and Caleb says, "I can try and retrieve what I have, but... it's gonna take a while. Are you sure you want me to work on this?" The three girls say, "Yes." Caleb looks at Hanna and says, "Hanna, you alright with this?" The girls look at Hanna with knowing looks and Hanna nods.
