Chapter 25: UnmAsked

Avery's at Spencer's with the rest of the girls in the kitchen watching the news about Garrett. The news reporter says, "One week after his arrest Reynolds pled not guilty to the charge of Alison Dilaurentis' murder. However, prosecutors remain confident with their case. Rosewood PD's working theory is that Reynolds became a police officer to destroy evidence that linked him to the murder scene. Investigators received a break in the case when that document was recovered." Hanna says, "That must be page five of Ali's autopsy report." Emily says, "Garrett took it but somebody gave it back." Spencer says, "My mom is friends with the prosecutor. That somebody... was Jenna." Avery says, "Can we finally put Ali to rest now?" Spencer mutes the tv and Hana says, "Or is two down and two to go? Ian's dead, Garrett's in jail. Melissa and Jenna were in Ali's room that night too. They may not have killed Ali, but... they're definitely guilty of something." They hear footsteps and turn to see Melissa and she says, "Love gone wrong." Spencer turns off the tv and she looks at Melissa and says, "What are you talking about?" Melissa says, "I knew Ian didn't kill Alison and you four can keep a secret, but you don't have the constitution for murder." Melissa looks at Avery and points to her frozen yogurt and says, "Are you gonna eat that?" Avery slides it over to Melissa and Melissa says, "Thanks. I know how Jenna Marshall went blind and so did Garrett. If he killed Alison, it's because he thought she deserved it." Melissa moans at the taste and she looks at Avery and says, "Is this S'mores?" Avery nod. Melissa says, "Mm. It is good. Thanks." Melissa walks away and out the door. Hanna says, "She definitely knows about the Jenna thing." Then all of their phone's beep and Emily reads, "'You still have something that belongs to me. Bring it, or one of you leaves in a body bag. A.'" Then the doorbell rings and Spencer goes to answer it. Hanna says, "A has to be talking about her phone." Emily looks at Hanna and says, "You still have it locked in your closet, right?" Hanna says, "Yes." Avery says, "I don't know about you guys but A talking about body bags makes me very nervous." Spencer walks in with a package, and she says, "Guys, it was a messenger. Something for each of us." The girls open the envelopes and it's an invitation to Rosewood's Masquerade Ball. Emily says, "A wants to play hide-and-seek." Avery reads a card from A, "'Be there when the clock strikes midnight.'" The girls watch Spencer walk away and Averys says, "Spence?" Spencer says, "Hide-and-seek was my favorite game with Melissa. You wanna know why?" Spencer looks at her friends and says, "I always won."
