Secret Soulmate

Tails was busy in his workshop, working on something, he was still tinkering even if, Eggman hadn't attack, in five years after losing the war, but that doesn't mean that he can't be prepared for whatever the enemy is planning. He still checked on his older brother figure, even if he was asleep or going on a run, he was worried about the hedgehog, after the war, the Hero hadn't really been the same, after forcing him to have that stupid test done, the doctor also to him that the state that was in was nothing more than mental trauma.

The young fox jumped out of his seat falling to the floor when his alarm went off, he looked at his phone, it was just his daily check in with Sonic, it was around lunch after all, he rubs his head adjusting his goggles, before leaving the workshop.

"H-Hey...I'm n-not m-messy!"

Tails froze in his track, he hadn't heard his best friend's voices in a long time, it almost made him tear up, but also afraid...there was an unfamiliar scent in the house, that he didn't recognize, he had his finger on a button on his glove to call in his arm blaster, if Sonic was in trouble he made his way up the stairs.

"You're too cute...when you blush"

That voice, it sounded familiar, to the young fox, but he couldn't put his finger on it, he opens the door to his best friend room, and his blue eyes widen.

"T-Tails!" Sonic shouted looking over at the young fox, the jackal who had been secretly seeing Sonic over the weeks looking at the fox as well, though he was as shocked at Tails was. Without being able to say anything to his friend Tails had stand in front of Sonic his arm blaster aimed at Zero. "S-Stay back Sonic, I won't let him hurt you again!"

"B-But Ta-"

"I know how it looks...but I'd would never hurt Sonic" Zero protested.

"LIES!! You trick us with your Illusions...Hell even making us believe that Shadow was a bad guy again!!" Tails growled his arm blaster getting charging up a shot. The Jackal didn't budge he stood his ground but he didn't blame the fox for being so untrusting...hell he wouldn't even forgive himself for his actions.

"Tails pl-"

"And how do I even know that your not going to just kidnap Sonic when he's in his most valuable state!" Tails interrupted Sonic. To the blue hedgehog frustration, he just puts his foot his down and blurred over to Zero standing in front of Tails arm blaster. "TAILS LISTEN!!"

The Fox flinched Sonic had never yelled at him before.

"H-he didn't hurt me...when I was up on the station, well it wasn't until week two...that he stopped" Sonic continued. "Eggman was the one that tortured me...to the point that I was close to death...Zero took care of me"

"But So-"

"No Tails!! I know your concerned about me...but that person that I've been seeing" Sonic started. "That was Zero..."

"W-what?" Tails said his arm blaster disappearing, that was when he saw the spark of a soulmate in both the jackal's and the hedgehog's eyes when they looked at each other. Tails knew that faith doesn't lie, but he just didn't believe that it was someone that tried to kill him.

"I-I gonna need time to get adjust to this..." Tails finally said.

"Can you wait outside, while I talk to him" Sonic said to the jackal, he only nodded and gave his omega a small kiss on the cheek, he waited outside of the room.

"Are you okay Tails?" Sonic asked.

"It's...just, why him?" Tails suddenly said.

"I thought that too...so did he...over the years I've always that Amy was my soulmate, cause she followed me everywhere, but I didn't get that connection, than came Shadow..." Sonic let out a small sigh. "But...over the years I just gave up on dating than I say him, and something inside me was telling me he's that one"

Tails shakes his head, "That's not the point that point of it being he tried killing us!"

"But he didn't!! That fight we had me and Gadget, I thought that I really killed him, or hurt him very badly, but I know that I had to fight for our side, so I couldn't really think about my feelings" Sonic admits. "Look Tails, I'm not asking you forgive him...but at least give him a chance, he's still working for Eggman...but even he doesn't know what he's up to"

"Sonic...seeing you like the way that you were...broke me the most, and if he makes you happy, than you have my full support" Tails said. "But does anyone else know?"

"Rouge...but she said she'll keep it a secret" Sonic sighs, "But I guess it's out of the bag now"

"It's going to take some time getting use...but"

Sonic opened the door and Zero walked back into the room. "But I'm will give you a chance Infinite"

"Just call me Zero...it's my birth name, I'm trying to get away from that old name" Zero said, Tails blinks but nodded.
