(Flashback)
"Meredith I'm home get your ass down here now!"
She ran down the stairs dreading her mom being home. Believe it or not she actually liked her mom being at the hospital more that her raising her daughter. Beats the king fights and shame spiral.
"Meredith what took you so long?"
"Sorry I was finishing my chemistry homework"
"You need to do better Meredith. I've seen your grades, really an A in chemistry."
"It's an A?"
"Not an A+. You need to work harder if you want to become something useful."
She's use to this by now. Nothing is ever good enough for Ellis Grey. Perfection got failure, their is no in between.
She sat at the table ready for dinner. She hasn't eaten all day due to Ellis not being their to provide food in the house. Ellis dropped the bag of groceries on the counter in preparation for tonight's meal.
"What are we having for dinner tonight?" Meredith asked as she set the table.
"Ravioli. And don't think I bought a lot for us. You should've eaten today so there is no need for you to be hungry."
"Mom I haven't eaten all day u didn't buy food yet."
"You have money, but yourself some lunch."
"I spent it in new school textbooks. They were $25."
"When I was your age I had a job so I could help provide for my family. You can't be lazy Meredith."
"I have no time mom. I study after school so I can get good grades and I'm only 15 I can't drive yet so who should take me to work?"
"The bus Meredith don't be a dumbass."
"The bus only goes to my school and back and public transit doesn't make stops to our neighborhood!"
"Whatever"
She slapped the food down making sure Meredith had a little less then what the serving size required. Ellis ate her food not trying to converse with her daughter while Meredith ate in uncomfortable silence. As Meredith was about to grab seconds Ellis quickly stopped her.
"What do you think you doing"
"Grabbing seconds, why?"
" you've had enough."
"Mom I'm hungry."
"Meredith you've already Eaton a lot are you sure you want to eat more?"
"Well..."
"You see Meredith, people will only think your pretty if you look a certain way and eating too much will not look good. Don't you want a boyfriend. Look fat won't help."
When she put it like that she had a point. Nobody wanted little miss grey anyway so becoming fatter won't help.
She quickly washed up and went to bed thinking about her mothers words.

Ok so I did a flashback chapter bc I feel like it might give context to mer but don't worry very soon we will have Merder.
