Shattered

Chapter 4

It had been a week since the hole "Ellis Grey Debacle" as Mer would put it and everything has been on edge. No fighting or crying (surprisingly) but tense. Nobody dared to mention what had happened and Mer managed to put on a fake face to ease everybody... everybody except Derek.

Meredith went to work and had small talk but always managed to get out of drinks at Joe's or watching surgical tapes on the couch. She either had to study or pulled into a late surgery. She didn't mean to avoid, in fact she didn't realize for awhile till George brought it up. She brushed it off abd invited everyone for dinner (granted Izzie will cook) tomorrow after work.

It was an hour till after work when Derek caught Meredith sleeping over her chart notes. "Mer. Wake up." Derek lightly shook her but there was not budging her in her deep sleep. "Mer wake up." This time a more violent nudge that ended up spooking her. "Huh what? Wh- what's going on?" She looked almost frightened by the situation. Derek was confused at her reactions but just assumed she was foggy from sleep. "Mer you fell asleep, you ok?" "Yeah just tired." "OK well our shift is about over so let's get ready." "Umm well... I have to finish charts but go ahead I'll catch up?" Wierd but Derek left to get ready while Mer finished her charts.

It had been 30 min and she was finally finished with her charts and made her way to her house. When she walked in she immediately smelt blueberry pie and lasagna. Yum. She set her bag down and was enveloped by Derek in a hug. They all set around the table to eat but something just didn't sit well with Meredith. Uneasy almost but she just couldn't put her finger on it.

Ok so I had a mental block abd didn't feel like writing. I'm sorry. But today I found out I had covid so I decided after a well deserved mental breakdown I should write. I finish this part tmr or the next day so enjoy.
