Dragon Stone

Dhaenys's point of view

A full night had passed after my sister's birth and death. It was very early in the morning and I sat on the stone floor of the entrance steps. Looking at my sword in hand I tried to imagine how many times it would be covered in blood once the battles would start. I knew that I would be at the front line, Pappa wanted nothing more after he heard of the Greens taking away the crown. I had accepted my faith... all that I had to do was wait for the storm.

"Dhaenys

"Dhaenys..." I looked back to find Jace looking at me. He had grown quite a lot. He was around 3 years older than me, and taller by a foot. I hadn't seen him much and I had to say it was a shame since technically we were family. "I wanted to thank you... Mother really needed your help after everything that happened." His words sounded strange. It was a mixture of having to formally say them as well as admitting that for once I did something nice for them. "Also for coming over to warn us about the Greens. "No need to be so formal Jace. My mother died in childbirth, and ever since I felt I had a duty to help yours, I got my opportunity to help our queen yesterday. Come I promise I don't bite," I extended my hand to him and he agreed surprisingly. He sat down on the steps with me and looked out towards the sty where the sun was just about to come up. "I am sorry for all these years of injustice between our families..."

"No, I am the one to be sorry about everything that has happened between our family members. We should have never hated you for what our grandparents did, or for your father marrying my mother. We were just kids and wanted to take it out on you, it was easier since you were so far away. Just know that we appreciate you being here, truly." It was strange hearing it from him. After all these years of side eyeing me he admitted that it was wrong.

I wrapped an arm around him and brought him close, covering him with my cloak. "We have a war ahead of us... might as well be friends before we all die." I knew that wars couldn't be won with a separated army and it was clear we had to stick together through thick and thin. "I forgive you all."
