Rhaenys's point of view

"I've had men whipped for falling asleep on their watch." I opened my eyes just after hearing Corlys voice. It was only us 3 in the room. Dhaenys was sleeping on the bed next to Corlys with her head on his stomach. He was stroking her hair with a smile on his face comfortable for the looks if it. He seemed happy to have her back on his side and part of me was joyful to see his eyes open again. Yet this moment wouldn't last long. "She is dead asleep, my little mermaid."

"She hasn't slept in days

"She hasn't slept in days. Mainly because she felt abandoned by you, we both did.... When we most needed you. I needed you. Lovie needed you more than anyone." I desperately wanted him to understand his wrongdoings even if deep down I was overjoyed to see him alive.

I felt so disappointed as I came to a bowl of water siting next to the nightstand to grab a sponge to pat his head with the cold water. He seemed better than before yet he was filthy with sea water and sand just over his dreadlocks.

"I had no other place to turn to. I lost everything," he wanted to make up excuses but that wasn't enough. There was no testifying his abandonment when both his wi

"We lost, Corlys. She lost her mother and uncle. We..." I couldn't believe what I was saying to him but I missed him. I missed him being there for both of us and I was furious that I couldn't get that time back. I looked at Lovie and I could tell she was in dire need of him. We both were. I could tell she missed her Grand Grand as she held him tightly with her right arm never letting him go. That girl might have been small but she had a tight grip. " The Stranger casts a long shadow over this family. Your brother is also dead. In his hase to bury you and claim your seat, he stood before the King and denounced Lovie's claim." I gave him the bad news and his expression seemed as painful as it could be. "Daemon took his head for it."

"Heedless ambition has always been a Velaryon weakness. You were right, Rhaenys. I reached too far. And for nothing. All I did was harm you all. Our pursuit of the Iron Throne... has ended," his words were so sweet to hear yet I knew that wasn't possible. He looked down at Lovie knowing that we had to do what was best for her. "We shall declare for no one. We will retire to our home to be content with our Lovie."

"Wish that we could... however Lovie is in between all of this." I came to her side and started to round the back of my hand on her face, wanting for all of this to be much simpler. "She will not be safe so long this war continues."

"Rhaenyra was complicit in our son's death. That girl destroys everything she touches. She has always hated our beloved child, what will become of her." Corlys was right, we knew nothing of what was to come yet we had to try.

"That 'girl'... Is holding the soldiers from starting a war. Holding back the dragon fire. Every man standing around the Painted Table urges her to pillage the realm into war. She is the only one who demonstrates restraint. Besides... Daemon would never let Lovie go. Let alone now that she..." I didn't know how to explain this to him.
