Luke
"What do you want now, Amber?" I sigh. The girl blinks her frosty eyes, which are shining. "What do I WANT?" She asks, her eyes widening as she realizes what I asked from her. "Oh, come ON, Luke!" She complains in her annoying guilt-tripping voice. "Why do you have to be so RUDE?"
"I'm not being rude!" I counter. "I'm simply just asking you a question!"
"But do you have to ask like THAT?" She asks, pouting deeply.
"Sure I do." I reply. "I'm very aware by now that you're going to endlessly nag on me about something stupid."
"Well, that's a little upsetting that you now realize that. . ." She mutters to herself.
Amber grabs me by the arm and shoves me into an empty classroom.
"What are you DOING?" I cry.
"SHHHHH!!" She shushes me, putting a finger to her lips. "Relax, Luke!" She whispers. "I just want to talk to you in private." She turns the lights off and she locks the door.
"You're just lucky that Ms. Antrano is not here today," Amber tells me as she pulls out Ms. Antrano's chair from the desk."I think you're the luckier one,"
I say as Amber plops herself into the chair, which pulls back and then straight up. "How so?" She asks, laying back to the point that the chair looks like it's going to flip.
"First of all, you put me in here." I point out.
"You're lucky because otherwise, we'd be hiding out in the JANITOR'S CLOSET." She shivers for effect. "Plus, that place is locked half of the time. I left my phone in there once. Dark times indeed."
She pulls her phone out of her skirt pocket and hugs it close to her chest. "SPEAKING of which. . ." She picks herself up from the chair and wraps her arm around me.
"SELFIE!" She shouts and she smiles into the phone screen as I put on an annoyed face. She puts her arm down and smirks.
I watch as she opens a social media app and posts the picture. She titles the post; "#KidnappingMyBestie".
"You know that people will get you in trouble for that title," I note. Amber gives me a glare. "It's a joke, Luke." She tells me promptly. "Can't you take a joke?" "Not about this, no." I argue.
"It's all fun and games, Luke." She says, closing out of the app. "Sure. All fun and games until someone calls the cops." I say, an angry edge to my tone.
"Why do you hate fun, Luke?" Amber whines as she goes back to her spot on the chair. I don't respond. I don't have too; it's just a stupid question.
Amber lays back in the chair for a moment, a thoughtful look on her face. Finally, she gets up from her chair and walks over to the door.
She peeks through the peephole and gasps. "Get down!" She whisper-shouts at me. I flop onto the ground just as we hear footsteps by the door. Someone jiggles the doorknob.
The door doesn't give through, good thing for Amber. "Antrano must've locked the door in advance. . ."
We hear a voice say. I recognize the voice, though; it's Mr. Wagner, our assistant principal. The footsteps become quieter as Mr. Wagner walks away.
Amber lets her breath out in a giant sigh of relief. "Thankfully it was only Mr. Wagner. Mrs. Catherine would've been a LOT more suspicious about why Ms. Antrano locked the door without telling them."
