Luke
"What is taking them so long?" I lay back in Ms. Antrano's chair and think in a thoughtful position.
"Maybe they're taking the long route," Liam says as Kyle starts writing stuff on the whiteboard.
"I doubt that Amber would enjoy taking her time." I note and Liam nods his head in agreement. "Do you want me to check the security?" I ask and Liam nods again.
"You're closest and I'm trying to figure out what we're going to do if the girls don't come back." Liam sits down in one of the standing desks.
Other desks aren't so lucky; they're scattered around the room. "Oh PLEASE Liam." Kyle starts without looking up from his writing. "I'm being WAY more productive than you are when it comes to figuring out what to do."
Liam rolls his eyes and begins to flip back desks onto their legs. I start looking through the security cameras.
"There!" I shout and both guys look up. "That girl! She's by the west entrance!"
"Remind me where we are?" Kyle asks and Liam facepalms himself. "She's a few grades away. We'll be good for now."
I watch as the girl walks around, her hair dragging behind her.
She leans against a wall and the wall turns pitch black, blending in with everything else. With each step she takes, another tile turns black.
Once she walks out of view, the cameras flash and the words HELP appear in what appears to be blood. I lean into the computer and the security glitches out until everything goes completely black.
"Dang." I mutter.
"Guys, one of the security cameras is out. I can't check that entire area."
"Oh no. . ." Liam shakes his head nervously. "That's just wonderful," Kyle mutters ruefully, proceeding to keep writing on the whiteboard.
"But I'm sure we'll be okay," I say quickly before anyone loses too much confidence.
"We better be. Otherwise I'm blaming you for our death when it's judgment day." I give him a glare.
"You're so pessimistic," I mutter. "Have some faith in our survival rate."
As I shut the computer, Kyle turns around with this stupid smirk on his face. "I have a plan, unlike you nerds." He says as he flips a dry-erase marker around between his hands.
"And what's your genius plan?" Liam whirls around with a questionable look on his face. "Simple," Kyle smiles and begins looking for a pointer.
"Do you guys have any idea where Ms. Antrano put that weird, plastic hand-pointer thingy of hers?" "Be specific, please." Liam says and rubs his temple.
"Never mind." Kyle flips through some of the cabinets at the front of the room until he pulls out a plastic stick with a white plastic hand out. The hand has its pointer finger out.
"There we go," Kyle says proudly, this dumb little smile on his face as Liam gasps in realization.
"Oh!" Liam cries. "THAT'S what you meant!"
"You better believe it!" Kyle grins and looks at me. "Luke, you're going to want to pay attention to what I have to say. That is if you want to save your precious Katie. But to be honest, I kind of don't want you to. But your rules, so."
I blink in mild confusion.
"I have everything planned out in the perfect format," Kyle explains and taps the pointer on the board three times. "We're not stopping you," Liam prods. "Go on."
