Luke

"Oh my gosh, Katie, are you okay?!?" For some reason that's the first thing that comes to mind. "We heard a primal scream a bit back," Liam says as Amber slow-claps.

"Yeah, Katie, what happened?" Kyle asks, clearly preparing himself for some sort of epic campfire story. "If it gets to that point I'll explain," Katie says, still looking shocked by the fact that we're here.

"What's wrong, girl?" Amber chirps. "You look SHOOK!"

"Oh, nothing a few months of therapy can't cure." Katie mutters. We all blink in confusion. "Anyway, why did you save me Luke?" Katie turns to me, a curious look on her face.

I feel my face starting to burn the longer it takes for me to answer the question.

I feel Amber's glare burning through me despite the fact I have my back towards her. "Yeah, Luke, why DID you save Katie?"

Katie gives Amber an exasperated look as Amber taps her foot on the wooden floorboards. "She's my friend," I finally manage.

I can practically feel Amber's annoyed eye roll from here. "Yeah, that's the reason." Amber mutters sarcastically to herself.

Katie smiles as she makes her way to the window. "I suggest you guys stay on the lookout just in case the worst comes around." Katie informs us as she opens the blinds to reveal the night sky.

"What do you mean by that?" Amber asks as she rearranges some of the security cameras. "Don't worry about it. Just probably plant those things outside and hack into the school's security to make sure."

Kate waves her index finger to the security cameras Amber is messing with.

"We're kinda in a life or death situation here." "Can I go home?" Liam asks, raising his hand. "Sorry, but we can't risk using the windows as an exit in the worry that the alarms might go off." Katie tells Liam.

"Why can't I just use the door then?" Liam begs Katie. "You probably don't want to go out there." Katie notes as she walks over to Ms. Antrano's chair.

Katie opens the computer on the teacher's desk and looks back at the window.

"Isn't the moon just lovely Luke?" She asks me as she gazes out the window. I blink and try to see how tonight is different from any other night.

"Sure, I guess." I say as Katie shakes her head and sighs. "Whatever." Katie starts quickly typing something into the computer.

"What are you doing?" I ask as she opens the school's website. "I took a class on Javascript once," Katie informs me as she opens some files.

"I can hack into the security." She smashes numbers and letters into the screen as I stare in awe. "Just give me a few minutes."

I take a few steps back and look around. "Make yourself useful and help me out, Luke!" Amber cries from her perch on the ladder.

She's fumbling around with the cameras. "Do us a favor Katie and erase all of the footage of us doing this." Amber sighs as Katie types away.

"Right after I send it to myself and save it to my files," Katie smirks. "But that was the plan anyway."

Katie slams her hand down on the desk. "Hacked," She calls out to us. "Great!" Amber cries and she hops down with a security camera in her arms.

"I'll put that outside. I can set it up." Katie takes the camera from Amber and heads for the door. "I'm also going to scan our perimeters if that's okay with you."
