"Ah shoot! I'm going to be late!!!" I rushed out of bed to the sound of my alarm buzzing for the 13th time. "What? It's only 5:30? SHO!!" I shouted loud enough for anyone to hear. Waking up early in the morning pisses the hell out of me, especially if I could've gotten another hour of undisturbed sleep.
"Yes?" Answered Shoto in his sweetest voice. He smiled in a teasing way as he leaned against my doorframe, his black hoodie a stark contrast to the bright white of the door. I was allowed to decorate my room any way I wanted, but I left the doorframe its original colour. It felt right that way.
"Is this a prank? Cause it's not funny." I sigh, my expression angry and a bit pouty. I get out of bed, stretching in my starry pyjama pants and my grey oversized t-shirt.
"Well, I didn't want to be late on your first day!" He jokes, still smiling. He finds my reaction funny for reasons I can't begin to fathom. I yawn, but rethinking about his motives, I get how he can find this funny. Hell, I would too.
"Ugh. Just- don't next time, please?" I let him off easy. He knows, sighing in relief because I didn't chew him out for it. But I swear, if he ever tries this again, I'll knock his lights out and proceed to force-feed him warm soba noodles with extra soy sauce in the broth.
"Alright." He smiled and left. Shoto was so different around me, so sometimes I wondered if he swapped places in public. I rushed to bathe and comb my hair, and looking in the mirror, I wondered who I even was. A Todoroki or someone unrelated? I had h/c hair with natural purple streaks and e/c eyes which never failed to melt hearts. I realized that it was only 6:30 am when I got out, so I decided to help Fuyumi make pancakes for the entire family before Shoto and I left for school.
Luckily, the rest of the morning wasn't as rushed.
"There's U.A.," I remarked out loud as we jogged to the giant high school. It was shaped in the form of letters, and despite asking almost everyone around when I was younger, I still didn't know what they stood for. U.A. High was one of the most prestigious high schools for anyone wanting to become a hero, so obviously Endeavour pulled a few strings and got Shoto and me enrolled. I've been here a few times, but never as a student.
The building itself was massive, the halls, doors, and rooms built for easy access. Having a strong quirk was a great thing, but sometimes it changed your body drastically. The best example I could ever think of was walking to class with her friends, an orange-haired girl and a girl with ivy instead of hair. She seemed to be a lizard, but she could've been a dragon. You have to ask about these kind of things.
"Mhm," He hummed in agreement as we slowed our jog into more of a brisk walk. Time is of the essence, as he likes to quote. I agree, but he's always either quick-paced or unbearably slow. This guy has no centre, just all or nothing. "Let's head over to the office. Principal Nezu wants to talk to you," he says as he winds through the crowded halls. I can't help but wonder how they can be so crowded even though they're about seven feet in diameter.
I travelled to the office with Shoto but I was surprised due to the amount of people staring at me. I smirk. He's popular. I guess people like the quiet, playful type around here. I chuckle to myself as I continue to follow him through the halls. I almost panic when I lose sight of him, but he waits for me at a locker.
"Who's the girl hanging with Todoroki?"
"Another one trying to be a hero?"
"I wish I was her."
"She looks nice!"I could hear people around me whispering and I even caught a couple of guys looking at me with a certain look in their eyes. I brush it off, knowing that people do those kinds of things. After all, being the daughter of a pro-hero entitles you to have weird guys stare at you while you just try to peacefully enjoy an event with your father.
After going different ways from Shoto, I walk towards Principal Nezu's door. I know about his unique circumstances, so I politely greet the small creature in front of me. "Hello, Principal," I bow politely, smiling. "Thank you for having me,"
"Ah, Y/n! Just the girl I was expecting!" He greets me cheerfully as he leads me towards his sitting room. I sit down on one of the armchairs, tucking my skirt underneath me. "I see that you've gotten your uniform," he notes politely. "Any chance that your hero costume also made its way along with it?" He sets a kettle down on a hot plate, heating it to a boil.
"Yes, sir," I smile, feeling excited to start my first day. I can barely sit still in my chair, so I try to distract myself by letting my eyes trace the patterns on the china cups he sets out on the table in front of us. "I must say, the support class always outdo themselves with the hero costumes. Mine came out exactly how I envisioned it," I chuckle.
"This year's class is extremely talented," He smiles as he pours us tea into those beautiful china cups. He hands me one and I clasp my hands around it, letting it warm down my overexcited nerves. I take a sip of the best tea I've ever had, knowing that Nezu always knows what type of tea his guests like. "One girl named Hatsume took on your costume, excitedly chattering about how she knew which material would be perfect for your requests," He adds after taking his seat and sipping his tea.
"Now, back to the subject," He redirects. I barely noticed that we weren't talking about my classes. The way he talks makes me feel comfortable, as if we were meant to be talking about this Hatsume girl. He sighs before he continues. "After filling out the assignment for the Entrance exam, you found a solution that I didn't even realize was an option. It was also a brilliant idea, seeing how instead of being bound by the instructions, you jumped through loopholes and found a solution that benefits everyone.
"Not only have you proven that you can use your mind to the best of its capabilities, but you've also proven that you can spend your physical strength wisely," he continues. As he speaks, I feel a rush of pride for myself. I don't get why he's saying this, but I'm glad he thinks that I'm a great student, I beam as he adds on. "I believe that you, Y/n, require new peers. The first-years would have loved you, but I believe that joining the second-years will help you develop more quickly as a hero," He smiles. I'm surprised, and I think it's evident in my expression. I can almost see my lips slightly parted and my eyes wide. "You're officially part of Class 2-A."
I continue to gape in shock. I quickly shake it off, smiling. "Thank you, Principal Nezu!" I exclaim happily as he dismisses me. I then walk down the large, now empty halls towards my new class.
Isn't Shoto in his second year? What would be the chances I end up in his class?I stand in front of a giant door, waiting patiently for some sign that I'm allowed to introduce myself. Instead of hearing a teacher talk about the fact that this class has a new student, all I hear is a lazy "Come in."
