I tried to cover up my nervousness with a glare, but I couldn't keep the thoughts running through my head silent. They shouted, demanding themselves to be heard. Can I even beat him? He got first in the Entrance Exam last year! Well, I also got first, but that was through the recommendations. There's a difference between the two. Not to mention how much his quirk must have grown through the past year! I've seen some of his battles, but I don't know if that's enough to prepare me for this...

My thoughts crowded my head, unease settling in. Poor Kaminari-san was already taken to Recovery Girl for the burns Bakugou gave him. SECOND DEGREE BURNS. How am I supposed to compete with that?

Before I could fully address my situation, All Might yells to announce that the battle is ready. "READY! SET...GO!!" his voice shook my nerves, ensuring that I wasn't completely ready. Boy, that could've helped.

One thing I learned about Bakugou in that split second was that this boy waits for no one. He immediately jumps onto me, blasting explosions in my face.  I pull up a water shield in the nick of time, but can't see for a few seconds. The explosions knock over most of the supporting pillars, leaving them in rubble. I even start to smell burning hair. Probably mine.

Okay, I think. Bakugou's strong suit is his explosions and his strength. If I could get rid of his explosions, I could have a chance at winning. That's it! I smirked, letting my quirk take over. I created rain clouds in the small arena, which limited Bakugou, but gave me the perfect opportunity.

Since the rain doesn't let him use his quirk, I have the upper hand. I used the heavy rain as a cover, creeping up behind his back. I then leaped up, using a water fist to try and knock him out. Instead, I was met with an elbow to the stomach and a quick punch right after. These were not like Izuku's. They were strong, quick, and barely gave me breathing room. There was no way I could've dodged them, especially since I needed to focus on keeping the rain going. I ended up in the rubble of the earlier explosions he launched at me after my head bounced on an especially large piece of it. My rain doesn't last much longer, either. He got me, I think bitterly. Even if I wanted to create Hail, I needed at least to have water I was controlling in the air. There was none of that left.

He smirked, keeping me secure underneath himself. I tried to fight his grasp on me, but I just wasted my energy. He's strong... I thought bitterly, knowing that he won. How could this have happened? Even with the upper edge of the rain, he was able to knock me down. Learning how to fight without a quirk is difficult. I would say kudos to that if he were any other person, but I didn't like him. He's not getting appreciation from me any time soon.

He then leaned in just a bit closer, until his mouth was right next to my ear. "This is why," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "A junior high girl doesn't belong in this class." I could feel his lips occasionally brush against my ear and I could smell the tangy scent of bell peppers, gunpowder, and something sweet, but that just infuriated me more. Especially with my current position.

He finally got up after a few seconds, letting me stand up. I tried to act calmly about the whole ordeal, but as soon as I grabbed my water bottle and collected the water that I used that fight, I stormed out of the ring and to the girls' changeroom. I couldn't let him see my bruised and torn face once again. As I opened the door, I could practically see him smirking behind me, knowing that he got to me.

I started healing the various cuts, burns, and bruises that he gave me, the burns first since they were the oldest and were starting to blister. I looked into the mirror and was met with my mirror image, one covered in cuts and bruises. I can't believe he'd been able to reduce me to a pile of broken flesh, even after I took his quirk away. Bitterly, I finished up with my wounds. All Might had dismissed us, so I decided to go and change. Before I walked away, I looked back into the mirror. It was then that I pledged this to myself.

I will beat Bakugou Katsuki. I won't rest until we go one-on-one and I beat him.
