I didn't know how long I'd been staring at the ceiling, but it was long enough for me to get philosophical.
I had woken up a while ago, and my first thoughts weren't Where am I? or Why am I locked up in a cell?, because nothing around me indicated I was a prisoner of the League of Villains.
I was in a bed, complete with fitted sheets and a warm quilt. I had a nightstand, a desk, a couple of books, and some empty shelves. Even though it looked like any other room, there were no windows. The door on my side had no handle, and I presumed it was locked on the other side.
What the hell have I done to make God hate me this much?
Or maybe it's not God I upset. Maybe I haven't upset anyone. What if the Gods above us, the deities we centre our lives around, are just people underneath us, twisting our fate into stories of misery for entertainment? What if they, with their selfish hearts and sadistic desires, create suffering and pain in our lives so they can forget about theirs?
Yeah, I might be going crazy.
I heard the clicking of a key in a lock and shot straight up. I barely managed to make myself look the tiniest bit presentable before Touya walked into the room. He seemed indifferent, his eyes still cold and uncaring. I lunged at him when he came close enough trying to wrap my hands around his neck. He commanded something before I could, though.
"Don't try to leave the room or hurt anyone, unless commanded otherwise," He spoke confidently, forcing my body to stop with a rush. I heard a shrill scream but couldn't identify where it came from before the numbness wore off. My legs had stopped mid-lunge, and I couldn't feel anything below my knees. That scream was mine, and the pain I had felt earlier was coming back in a rush. It caused me to buckle, landing on the ground with my knees tucked underneath me.
"You backstabbing piece of-" I started before Touya continued. He didn't even give me a chance to finish my insult. Too bad, since I had about fifteen more I wanted to yell at him.
"You are not to obey a command from any villain other than Shigaraki, Toga, Spinner, Twice, or Mr. Compress unless given express permission," He started, keeping his voice steady and emotionless. He kept his gaze on me the entire time, but I couldn't find any hint of the real Touya. "You are to only refer to me as Dabi. And you can use your quirk when permitted, but if not, you can only use it to heal.
"Don't reveal any of the League's plans to anybody other than members, don't try to help Bakugou escape, and don't tell anyone about the commands I have given you," He went to reach for something in his coat pocket, but then he looked back at me. I was still on the floor, my knees tucked underneath me. I still scowled at him, too stubborn to stop. "Oh, and you can't tell anybody about the quirk you're under."
So it's a quirk, I noted down mentally. "Now, am I going to get some food and water or shall I die of dehydration?" I asked bluntly, my voice sharp and cruel. Since my quirk is water-based, I need a lot more of it to survive than most people. If a regular person can survive a week without some water, I can barely last three days. Any longer and I'm like a fish out of water.
He handed me a water bottle, his mask falling as I looked him in the eye. I could see that it pained him to keep me like this; a prisoner, involuntarily forced to obey his every word. "I'm sorry, Y/n," He said, his words remorseful and apologetic. "It wasn't supposed to be like this,"
"Then what was it supposed to be like?" I asked, angry and hurt. His cold and detached words were easier to bear than his apologies. "Did you expect me to join the League without complaining? Join because I love you?" I could feel the beginnings of tears prick my eyes, dangerously close to falling. "Because I could never blindly join a cause I didn't support. You should know that."
