I wasn't sure if I was awake or asleep when I opened my eyes. The city lights danced over Jarek's sleeping face, making it hard to believe he was real. Simply watching this man sleep made my heart feel at ease. I don't even remember when I started feeling this way about him. Was this what Devon felt about me? I wish I knew for sure.
For now, I was at peace just watching him sleep. He reminded me of those fairytale books we grew up on as children. This time he was the sleeping prince instead of a sleeping princess. I held back a soft giggle from the thought and just smiled.
It did make me wonder if true love's kiss would wake him. I lean in slowly to softly leave a light kiss on his lips. When I pulled away, I saw the edge of his lips curl up. "That was a sweet way to wake me up." He said before slowly opening his ocean-hazel eyes.
"Though, heads up, be careful waking a man up. We tend to wake up with something that makes us think dirty thoughts."
I looked at him, confused, until he pushed my shoulder back. Making me lay on my back and have him tower over me. "You're so innocent. It's so hard not to ruin that." I felt my heart skip a beat from how he looked at me. Jarek was like a hungry wolf looking at delicious prey.
Jarek leaned closer and softly kissed my cheek, then the other, before my forehead. Next was the top of my nose before my lips. "To think I would be here with you one day, Alora." He rested his forehead against mine, allowing me to feel his soft breath along my face. I just closed my eyes to enjoy the moment. I leaned up to lock lips with Jarek, not caring where this went.
His hands moved my shirt to hold my waist while deepening the kiss. I followed his lead as my hands found their eyes under his shirt and on his bare back. Jarek glided his tongue over my lips to ask for permission, which I granted. I didn't care if I was terrible at this stuff. His taste alone was helping cloud my mind.
It was like our bodies were talking to each other. I left a shift but didn't realize he had unfastened my bra until I left his hand moving over one of my breasts. The sensation was startling but felt so lovely and right.
I loved every place he touched on me. I had pulled off his shirt when a bang at the bedroom door disturbed our moment. "Alora! Wake up! We're being attacked!" Rhea shouted from the other side of the door. Jarek moved faster than me and ran to the door while putting on his shirt.
Rhea looked at both of us, confused after I fixed my bra and shirt. "I'm not even going to ask. But Marla snapped and started attacking us." Rhea said before we all ran to the meeting room. We got there in time to hear a blaster and a scream.
"Devon!"
My mother was holding Devon and pressing on his chest. When I looked around, I Saw it was Marla that had fired the blaster. "You're all fucking stupid for blindly following this bitch! She can't even kill her daughter, the only true threat to everyone on this planet." Marla said she waved her blaster before pointing it my way.
"Well, I'm going to do the job for us."
My Defense and Warrior bionic chips activated, which triggered another activation due to the gravity of the situation. My Kin bionetic chip could only start when I was in danger and Defense or Warrior chips were activated. It allows me to move dangerous objects out of the danger zone.
At this moment, it was the Blaster aimed at my head. I just winked at Marla and waved my hand, focusing the blaster out of her hand and across the room. Everyone looked stunned by what had just happened now, except Jarek.
"Marla, are you that foolish? Why are you acting like this?"
I confronted Marla, feeling my existence wasn't the only reason. "You also stole my boyfriend. Seriously, it's like you're out to ruin my life." This redhead, I swear, was fucking insane. "When did this become Marla's world?" Jarek asked, getting Marla's attention.
"I've been telling you over and over. We are nothing and will be nothing. You must get that in your thick skull and stop sneaking into my room naked." He put Marla on blast to everyone around here. Rhea moved to Devon and my mother to start healing Devon's wound.
"You are fucking mine! She is a threat, and so is that trash in your stupid's arms."
Marla charged at me, but I ended up flipping her over me without thinking and sending her through the only window in the meeting room. I rolled back onto my feet to run and saw she had disappeared in thin air. It was as if she was a ghost.
Jarek came over and saw the same thing as me. "She gone." He said as he looked around, baffled. I decided to forget about Marla and turn to help heal Devon. "No one else hurt?" I asked as I looked up and around at everyone. Someone gave the blaster to Jarek as others checked on one another. "We're all good. Is he going to pull through? She shot him in the heart as he took the hit for our Leader."
When I heard the word 'heart,' my FirstMed bionic chip went into overdrive and sent some nanites out from me and into Devon to perform surgery. "Alora, don't hurt yourself in the process." My mother said, concerned as she noticed the change.
"You know me better than that, mom. I'm your daughter, after all." I said with a smile.
She just petted my head as I focused on the surgery. "I am so glad some of the things I raised you with stuck." She softly giggled as my vision blurred a bit. Once my bionic chip confirmed the surgery was a success, the nanites returned to my body. Jarek gently touched my arms, knowing the counter result of my bionetic chips overdrive.
I just relaxed into his arms and rested the back of my head on his chest. "You did great, Alora. It's nap time." He did pay attention to me, but as I drifted into slumber, I realized I barely knew him.
I really should pay more attention to Jarek.
