Music Suggestion: Jaymes Young - Infinity
I swear to the sun itself. Something was not right. I came in again in the damn medical bay. I was connected to tubes and wires, praying that Jarek was all right. I don't care if I was hurt or paralyzed if it meant Jarek was alive and safe. At least I wasn't in one of those tubes, meaning I could disconnect and make a run for it.
"Alora, you're awake."
The voice made me sit up a little too fast, making me dizzy. I shook my head to shake it off and saw Jarek come over to me. "Lay down. It's going to be okay." He touched my shoulder, allowing me to grab his arm. I pulled it to turn on the bionetic screen and ensure his Style bionetic was turned off.
Jarek chuckled and proved to me that he was real. "You are safe, Alora." He petted my head and sat beside me. "Whatever it was you did, it took out only the enemy. It was as if it wanted to dodge me to protect me." I smiled at him as he fluffed up my pillows so I could stay sitting up.
"Finally! Rhea! Alora is awake!"
Devon's shouting hurt my head, but I knew he meant well. Rhea came running into the room and to my side. "You stupid fool! Why didn't you tell anyone the Ghost chip errored?! Do you know how worried I was about you?!"
Rhea lectured me as I leaned into Jarek. "I'm sorry, Rhea. I didn't think it would be a problem. I was going to tell you after we got the stuff." Rhea sighed before pulling me into her arms. "I am so glad you're okay, and I'm sorry, but I had to replace your Ghost Bionetic chip."
She pulled away and used my Bionetic screen to show me the upgraded chip. "Apparently, there was a recall on the chip. So we got you the new one." She said as she helped me understand the new bionetic chips better. "Rhea, don't you think we should tell her?"
Rhea glared at Devon, annoyed that he had brought something up. Jarek threw a pillow at him too. "Leave Devon alone. He's only speaking up because he knows how I would react if you hid something from me." Rhea and Jarek looked at each other before at me.
"Rhea fucked Devon."
Jarek said, making them both look afraid and defensive. "Shut you!" They both said together, as Rhea's face turned a different shade of purple and Devon's red from blushing. "My two favorite people are finally a thing, nice." I giggled as they looked away from Jarek and me.
"That was a great cover-up, Jarek, but I know that isn't what Devon meant."
He shrugged and lay back beside me on the bed. "Okay, actually, we have bad news." I looked over at Rhea, who held a sad expression. "Terrance captured your mother. He raided one of the hideouts with Marla's help." Devon said, growling under his breath.
He handed me the glass paper to see the news on earth. The first page was about how military security captured the leader of the Rebellion. They even showed a picture of my mother with her hair covering her face and then dragging her in. The following page was the announcement of Marla and Terrance's marriage. "What the fuck! That bitch is my new stepmother?!"
Jarek sat up as the others came over to see the announcement too. Under was a small picture of Rosaline and General Lin, stating they were next to be wed. "When do we land back on earth?" I looked up at Rhea as she looked at her forearm's screen. "In less than seventeen hours."
I put the glass paper in Jarek's lap before turning towards Rhea. "Please take them out, or I will rip them out. I need to visit the tactical room." Jarek and Devon looked at me, confused, as Rhea granted my request. "Please do not push yourself too much before we land. We will need you in tip-top condition."
I nodded before getting out of bed and making my way to the tactical room. There were people in there already running around, confused. "Freeze!" Everyone stopped what they were doing to look at me. "I will find a way to save my mother. For now, I need the medics to do a count on the medical inventory."
Rhea, Devon, and Jarek appeared behind me as I turned around. "Rhea, you are now in charge until my mother returns. Everyone already knows and trusts you, like my mother." I looked over at Devon and Jarek. "I don't care who, but one of you needs to do an inventory check on what weapons we do have. The other is in charge of training."
I looked back at Rhea as she smiled proudly at me. "You heard Alora. Now that she is back in commission, we can start getting everything together." Everyone saluted Rhea before handling the task at hand. "Rhea, I will need those counts on Medical and weapon supplies. So I can calculate multiple strategies in case of any scenario."
Rhea nodded her head before I turned to the admin table. I needed to find a way to save my mother. Even if it meant I was going to have to do someone. I was not going to lose that woman a second time around. "Alora?" I turned around to see Devon looking at me with concern.
"I'm okay. I promise I won't push myself."
He shook his head before pulling me into his embrace. "You are trying to be strong, so you can focus on saving your mother. But even I know you are scared out of your mind." I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Devon was the only person who had known me since I was a kid. So, of course, he could see that I was freaking out inside.
"I don't have Izzy no more. Mom is all I have that is my blood." Devon softly petted my head as he helped me calm down. "I know, Alora. I know." He said before finally letting me go.
"If anyone can save her. It would be you." Devon said as he tapped my forehead. "Now go show Terrance the monster he created." I giggled at his statement earning a smile from him. "No matter whom you end up with, Alora. I will always be by your side because I love you. You are my forever family."
He said forever, family. I had no idea why that sounded so beautiful to me. Or even why it held so much power. "Devon, you are my forever family too." He kissed my head before going off to do his task at hand.
Devon was right. I was the type to fight for my family and what I truly cared about. I would burn down the Earth to protect them from anything. I got to work immediately and started plotting as many plans as possible. Before I knew it, we had landed on Earth. Just in time for the list of medical and weapon supply inventories to find their way to me.
It allowed me to create even deeper scenarios based on what we had. We reunited with the other half of our Rebellion. We updated them on who will take charge in Brandy's place. As predicted, no one argued that Rhea should take the lead. I received an inventory check from our other half and returned to work.
Since I joined, this was going to be one of our most extensive missions. I had my team now that we had landed on the ground. Someone would pitch in, and we would work together to see if their ideas were possible. I needed all scenarios I could calculate. This way, I could adapt on the spot when the time required it.
"Alora?"
I looked over at a female on my team as she held out a glass tablet. "Someone was trying to send us a cryptic message. It appears it might be directed at you." I looked puzzled before taking the glass tablet. When I looked at the corrupted cryptic message, I saw it was from Rosaline.
She was crying and appeared to be hiding somewhere with little light. She had bruises and cuts all over her body and face. "Alora, if you are getting this. I need your help. Ever since you left, everything has been falling apart. I am so sorry for everything I have done." The video shook as it appeared she got yanked out of the corner.
It cut off after we all heard Rosaline cry for help. I took the tablet entirely and went to find Rhea. I wasn't sure if this was a trap or if my stepsister was asking for help. Either way, I needed Rhea to be my ground in this thought process.
