I was locked away in a cell for over three days. At least allow me to breathe and reflect on all that has happened. Something I have barely been able to do correctly. I lay on the cot in the cell, wearing a black and silver Kaftan dress. My mother would come down and update me on what was happening above ground.
Rhea wasn't able to come back down after the first time. Her grandfather didn't appreciate her telling him to suck it. So she was banned from coming back towards me. My mother told me how Jarek had tried to break me out several times. Also, the Earth Rebels made some powerful allies with people who didn't want the invasion to happen.
"Alora."
I looked to see Rhea whispering from the prison cell door. I got up to stand in front of her. Confusion filled me when the gate opened at the warrior's hand. "Alora Lux, you are free to go by order of the king." I raised an eyebrow before Rhea took my hand and dragged me somewhere more private.
Once we were alone and confirmed to be in private, Rhea turned to me with a huge smile. "You won't believe how I got you out." I tilted my head, confused, as she appeared to get more hyper. "I'm not good at this guessing game, Rhea." She stepped back and pointed to her belly.
"I'm pregnant."
I gasped at her, beyond confused. "I thought you said the doctor removed your ability to have children." I said as I blinked a few times. "I'm an alien, remember." I hit the palm of my hand against my forehead.
"It grew back, didn't it?" She nodded her head, still having a big grin on her face. "Okay, so how did your pregnancy get me out of jail? That is what I am lost on." Rhea grabbed my hands and held them firmly. "So you know on Earth you have this thing called godparents?"
I nodded my head, just waiting for the punch line. "Here on Jupiter, we call them Heavenly Protectors. Our children can have one to five of them. Usually, royalty will always have five. I told my grandfather that Devon and I wanted you and Jarek to be one of the five."
Rhea's smile faded, showing there was a catch. "He agreed to Jarek hands down, but you are a different story." I sighed heavily as I took my hand back to rub the bridge of my nose.
"Rhea, I love you, truly I do, but what have you gotten me into?"
I still held her other hand to give her the courage to speak. "Grandfather only agrees, as long as you take the heavenly warrior trials." She said as I raised an eyebrow. "Heavenly Warrior Trails?" I asked, more concerned than I was before. I had a sinking feeling that this was going to backfire on me.
"So here's the thing. Jarek is actually one the highest-ranking warriors we have, and even he hasn't completed the trails."
I took a calming breath and leaned against a wall. "Jarek does not want you to do the trials. I agree with him, but you can clear your name by doing these trials. Though that old fart and being an asshole for no reason." Rhea went on a tangent.
She was saying the pros and cons in front of me as she paced. "If I pass, will I be able to marry Jarek?" Rhea froze at my question before turning to look at me. "He probably doesn't remember, but before I got arrested for being that dick's daughter, Jarek proposed to me during sex."
Rhea squealed as she hopped over to me. "Weak ass way to propose, but he still proposed." She said as she danced in front of me with joy. "I hope Devon will propose soon." Seeing Rhea so happy made me smile softly.
