IMPORTANT (vote on ending)

Hello, it is Ellie here and I've been making a lot of changes to this book. Stressing out Sophia is my job, especially after the way she stresses me. But! We need help coming up with an "ending" to (Y/n)'s hand, per say.

(For those seeing this after the book is completed; see this as insight into Sophia's hidden symbolism. As well as the possible endings we could have had)

Our original plan was to take (Y/n) to the hospital, and have her be permanently be an amputee, but two other options were brought to my attention during research. You could either lose your hand, have Denji find your hand and have it reattached, or have Denji cut off his to be reattached to you.

Fun.

What this entails (Do not vote here!)

1. Remain Amputated
(Y/n) is rushed to the hospital while surgeons and nurses wheel her in. She is asked where she left her hand so they can try to reattach it (as it only has been an hour since it was removed). In her daze she tells them, and Denji & Yoshida go searching for it. They are unable to find it, and Denji mourns while Yoshida goes back to tell the doctors. This allows Denji and (Y/n) to have a sad heart to heart about failure, and how life will always continue on. Expect a kiss at the end of this one

2. Denji Finds Your Hand
Similar to the previous one: Y/n is rushed to the hospital, she is asked where her hand is, Denji and Yoshida leave to find it. Denji is able to find it in the rubble, he cries in excitement, and Yoshida is able to ice it. They then rush back to return it to the surgeons; where it is disinfected and prepped for surgery. They were successful in reattaching it back, and Denji will forever smother your left hand with affection; even more so than what he did before. He will have a heart to heart about how important you are to him, all of you. Expect for you two to be dating at the end of this one.

3. Denji Gives You His Hand
Much like the last two, the same order follows. When Denji looks for your hand in the rumble, they are unable to find it; thus provoking the boy to desperation. He pulls his cord, retracts his left blade, and forces Yoshida to hold his left hand. Then he chops it off, passes out (and dies), and Yoshida is able to deliver the hand to the doctors. The hand is questioned, disinfected, and prepped for surgery. The surgery is a success, and when Denji revives he goes to see you with it. You are beyond touched at the idea, and will tear up and smother Denji with affection. He will have a heart to heart with you about how close he feels to you, and the "single-body love" aspect will be brought up again. Expect to be childishly "engaged" to Denji at the end of this one.

At the end of every decision you will be dating Denji; and he will childishly ask to marry you regardless. It is just that your responses/the way it is handled/stated/timing will be different.

Each option has different symbolism behind it. (Even though the last one is more nonsensical ["its romantic," as Sop says] than it is realistic.)

The symbolism (Do not vote here!)

1. Remain Amputee
• This is to show, despite everything, no matter how many devils or obstacles get tossed in their way; (Y/n) will fight tooth and nail to remain by Denji's side, just as she promised. Death evades her as her love will forever prevail. The lost hand is supposed to also show that even though things Denji love may be taken away, there is still time to make memories with the things he has.

2. Denji Finds Your Hand
• This is to show that Denji will forever be there to catch your fall, to hold you when you stumble, and to keep you when you are lost. The hand being returned is similar to a promise; a promise that Denji will always save you. Just as he pulled you out of confinement to his neck, he pulled you (your hand) out of confinement under that rubble. He won't let you live in darkness, but will show you how bright life is in the spotlight. (This refers to your birth as well as ur hand being found)

3. Denji Gives You His Hand
• Much like how you were apart of Denji, Denji will now become a part of you. The both of you now have remnants of eachother in your bodies, Denji with his dot-scar on his neck from your birth, and you with his hand. The hand is similar to a wedding proposal, where (if you were to get married later down the line, your finger would rest on "his" left hand that he gave you), his hand being attached to you is like a promise/engagement ring. It is a promise that he will be loyal to you, and will submit to you for the rest of his many many lives. (As no matter how many times he dies, [till death do we part], your left hand [the "marriage hand"] will forever be "his"). Denji cherishes the time you were in him, and now you have a constant reminder of your connections (aka him now in you). This also shows how many sacrifices the two of you are willing to go through just to love eachother, as Denji is willing to risk just as much as you are.
