"Get the hell out of my house and don't you dare come back if this is how you're going to act!"
Violet downed another shot of whatever was in front of her as the words her mother had screamed at her face mer hours ago rang through her head. She should have known that making out in their backyard with the priest's daughter wasn't going to get her anywhere good. Especially if they were making out during a party that her mom was throwing in which she invited every single person she was acquainted with from the church.
Violet grew up in a Christian household and she was expected to be the perfect little daughter her mother had always dreamt of. But unfortunately for her mom, Violet turned out to be the complete opposite of that. When she started high school she dyed her hair purple and never looked back at the blond hair that she inherited from her mother. She started learning how to skateboard at the age of thirteen and started coming home with scabbed knees and dirty elbows. She wore tight-fitting jeans, lace tops, thick jackets and shorts instead of the pretty bright dresses her mom kept buying her for her birthday.
The one thing her mother was relieved of about Violet was her academic life. Violet wasn't one of those people who were naturally gifted and could remember everything without studying but she was one of the people who loves studying. She falls in love with almost every subject she learns and she can spend hours cooped up in her room to study if she has the right motivation. She always had good grades and graduated with a 3.8 GPA and she's now a freshman at NYU studying computer science. After all, her favourite subject was mathematics.
Unfortunately, not even the reminder of her daughter being a bright student could stop Violet's mom from kicking her out of the house when she walked in the middle of her make-out session. So now Violet was sitting on a barstool at her favourite bar drinking shots of what she thought must be some kind of tequila with her duffle bag and skateboard laying down at her feet. She was wearing an oversized sweatshirt that she was sure actually belonged to her friend, Levi and leggings with her hair up in a ponytail and maybe just maybe she had a few tears streaming down her face.
I mean, can you blame the girl? She got outed and kicked out all in one night and instead of calling someone she was getting wasted because she didn't want to face reality.
"Excuse me." Violet felt someone tap her shoulder and she turned around from her seat to face the person. "Do you mind moving your skateboard? There are no other seats left at the bar."
When Violet turned around after wiping her face she wasn't met with a face but with cleavage hidden under a black blouse. "Damn." She thought to herself and then she raised her head and she met a gorgeous pair of brown eyes and thought, "Double damn." But perhaps she hadn't said that in her head because the girl's eyes widened in disbelief and shock when their eyes met.
She took a step back and swallowed and Violet watched her do it and wondered how such a simple action could be so attractive. When Violet's eyes went back to her face she started to believe that she might have drank a lot more than she thought because the beautiful stranger seemed to have tears glistening in her eyes as she stared deeply at Violet.
