It was the following Thursday, four days after the last time I saw any of the guys, when I noticed the bump on my wrist had grown. Frowning, I studied it, as I sat at my desk. It didn't hurt when I touched it. In fact, only the small raised freckle near it was bothering me, occasionally itching. I wondered if I had a cyst on the inside of my wrist. It wouldn't be surprising, considering I had a history of getting them under my armpit.
Sighing, I realized that I would need to make an appointment with a doctor to get it checked out. They would probably just give me a course of antibiotics like the last time I had one under my arm. I wasn't sure I could afford the bill I would incur considering the health insurance provided by the company was absolute trash.
My co-pays would be tedious.
I considered the possibility of having Sean take a look at it.
He was a doctor, after all.
Maybe he could confirm my suspicions and advise me on if going to the doctor's office would be worth it. My mind briefly wandered towards the situation with North and Silas. I hadn't heard from either man since the trip only making the pit in my stomach grow. Would they have told Sean and Owen? The other guys?
Shaking off those thoughts, I decided to take the chance. The worst that could happen was rejection which was not a new concept to my existence. Quickly glancing around the reception area, I made sure Mr. Sikeouti wasn't in sight, before pulling my phone out of my purse. Opening the text message app, I started a private message with Sean.
Me: Hi Sean! Are you available after 5 today? I was wondering if you would like to meet me for a coffee and snack.
Sean: I would love to, sweet flower :) I get off at 7 though, so how about I take you to my favorite bakery in the city? I'll pick you up around 730
Me: Okay! I'll be ready :)
Turning the screen off, I put the phone away before turning my attention back to my work. Not even Mr. Sikeouti's sour demeanor couldn't tarnish the small joy bubbling in the pit of my stomach. I was going to get some one-on-one time with the handsome doctor. I wondered if it would be as simple to get one-on-one time with the other guys.
Was it really as easy as asking?
The day rolled by slowly. I skipped my lunch break to make sure I didn't fall behind on my tasks. By 530PM, I was the last to leave the office. I made sure all of the lights were off before taking the elevator to the ground floor and catching a cab to my place.
I was giddy as I showered and got dressed into a pair of skinny blue jeans and a form fitting white long sleeve shirt. On Top of that I wore a baggy yellow sweater that was soft from overuse. I looked at myself in the mirror studying the woman looking back at me.
She seemed thin and awkward; but her eyes were shining brighter than they had in a long time.
I took a moment to add mascara and lip gloss feeling the urge to look pretty for the first time in a long time. Seven-fifteen found me wrapped up in a scarf, coat, and gloves sitting on my normal bench outside the building; waiting. My foot was tapping an unknown melody and my hands were stuffed into the coat pockets. When the familiar black SUV pulled up, I wasted no time settling into the empty passenger seat.
"Hi." I said breathlessly, with a wide smile, as I faced Sean in the driver's seat.
He wore a purple button down shirt, a loosened black tie, and black perfectly ironed slacks. The belt that I had made him try on during our shopping trip was wrapped around his waist.
