"ALRIGHT, LETS GO GUYS!! HUSTLE HUSTLE!!" The sound of skates smacking onto the ice echoed through the arena, triggering my reflexes to jolt forward. "THREE LAPS! THREE LAPS!" I glided around the sharp corners, trying not to hit my teammates. "Jordyn!" I heard from behind me. I turned around skating backwards and met the eyes of my best friend, Hannah. "You ready for the game tomorrow?" She asked with her usual little smile.
"Yep I'm ready." I replied, quickly stopping. She shot me a weird look. "Uhm, hello? we've been working so hard all summer, and were finally having our first game. Where's the enthusiasm?!" She exclaimed. "I'm excited trust me, I'm just tired." I replied, stepping into the box. "I can't believe this is actually happening!! It went from playing mini sticks in hotel rooms in the town next to us, to traveling the world!" She spoke as we waddled down the rubber path. "I know right, this is so crazy." I shoved the locker room door open, quickly sitting down to where I put my bag. I slipped off my jersey, throwing it into the black leather bag. "So, want to come back to my place and watch the leaf's game?" Hannah asked, slipping off her skates. "Yep of course." I said slipping my chest protector off. "I really wanna see Mitch play, he's so hot." She said.
"Of course you do." I laughed. "It's true." She shrugged. I chuckled shaking my head, zipping up my hockey bag and standing up. Hannah followed behind me. "So, are you excited to see your absolute fav?" She smirked. I suddenly stopped in my tracks, staring into her direction. I felt my most un amused expression creep up on my face. She bursted into laughter. "Jo it's funny! You need to chill out." My cheeks suddenly grew red and I hid my face. I started to walk again, still hiding my face in embarrassment.
The whole car ride home, Hannah went on and on about how hot Mitch was, and how she was excited to see him. As for me, I was never really interested in hockey guys, I mean except for this one guy, but I won't get into detail about him. "Ok but listen to this, who would you kiss, marry, or kill? Mitch Marner, William Nylander, or A-" "Can we not talk about this please?" I interrupted. She got the hint, and just left me alone until we got into my apartment door. I threw my bag onto the kitchen floor, and grabbed the TV remote, switching on the game. We both sat down to watch it. I watched as the puck got passed from player to player, each one of them showing off their skills while doing so. I watched the small black figure closely, as it reached closer and closer to the other teams goal tender. It suddenly reached the last player closets to the goal, I turned my gaze up to see a familiar face, Auston Matthews.
He took the puck into his possession quickly, gliding around the defenseman defending the goal. I watched as he successfully dodged checks, getting right up to the goal. He went for the shot, and he scored!! We both stood up and cheered loudly, high fiving each other on the way back down to the couch. "That was an awesome goal, The shot was absolute perfection!" Hannah exclaimed. "Yeah it was." I admitted. She suddenly turned to me and gave me "the" look. "C'mon Jordyn, you can't hide from him forever." She spoke. "yeah I guess your right." I said. "You guys are older now and it happened five years ago, don't you think it's time you let it go?" She definitely had a point. "Yeah, I guess."
