A.n: this chapter is very dialogue heavy so sorry if you don't like that :)

Tw slight verbal abuse and ableism at the middle end of the chapter.

Peter messaged Violet on Wednesday asking to meet up after school. Peter stood waiting for Violet at the side gate, he waved when he saw her. Violet stuffed her hands into her pockets and walked up to him awkwardly.

"Should we catch the subway to Manhattan?" Violet asked.

"Well I actually thought we would get a lift." Peter said scratching his neck and pointing at a car parked just outside the gate.

"Oh, that's fine." violet examined the posh looking care and raised her eyebrows at peter.

"It's a company car" Peter responded as if it explained everything. he slid into the back of the car and Violet followed him. A man was sitting in the driver's seat looking very official

"Hi Happy." Peter greeted him in a cheery manner.

"Hello Peter going to the tower?" Happy said, glancing in the rear view mirror, his expression stoic.

"No, could you drop us off at Central Park please?" Happy didn't say anything and turned his eyes back on the wheel. "That's happy he's my driver."

Happy let out a huff and muttered something that sounded like "I was head of security"

"Cool." Violet said, not sure how to react. The awkward silence was broken by Peter pulling a notebook out of his schoolbag.

"I got some information off the internet but i was thinking we should get some photos for the holotable"

"Sounds good"

They arrived at central park and spent the next hour and a half walking around manhattan cataloguing all the plants and animals and the number of them they could see. By late afternoon they had moved to a library, completed two food webs with pictures and started on the presentation. Violet found herself relaxing in Peter's company; he was easy to talk to and they both liked science. It was strange like they had known each other for ages.

"Would you like to come over to the tower later in the week?" Peter asked as they were leaving the library. "I managed to convince Mr stark to let us use the programming lab for a couple of afternoons"

"Sure, like Monday?" Violet didn't want to seem needy. Peter probably had other things to do being an intern and stuff.

"I was thinking more like Sunday"

"Okay it's a date," Violet laughed.

"Yeah haha" Peter awkwardly laughed, turning a bit red. Shit why did I say that? We haven't known each other long enough to make that type of joke. They waved goodbye. Violet leaded over waiting for Peter to turn the corner. Once his body disappeared into the crowd violet rushed back into the library's toilet. Using restrooms was Violet's favourite way to change into her suit; they were usually somewhere out of the way so people didn't notice if she was in there a long time and cameras outside were only checked if there was an incident, making it a perfect place to have some privacy.

The cold chilly wind was evidence of the changing season; it would soon be winter. swinging through the city allowed violet to calm down from the awkward goodbye. What was I thinking? When she was Spider-woman it was different if she did something stupid it was usually in front of criminals (who didn't matter) or grannies (that would be dead soon). She became this confident person in the suit, unlike the shy teenager out of it. Her downhill spiral of thoughts came to a stop when she saw spider-man chilling on the Brooklyn bridge. Violet turned invisible and sneaked up behind him
